Is Robert Mueller going to investigate George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Andrew Jackson, too?
Fox News ^ | May 7, 2018 | Hans A. von Spakovsky

Those who claim that President Trump is guilty of obstructing justice because he fired James Comey or because he asked Comey if he could go easy on Michael Flynn are way off base. And so is Robert Mueller if he is actually conducting such an investigation.

What none of these critics seems to understand is that under our Constitution, the executive power of the federal government is fully vested in the president. That includes the responsibility to ensure that “the Laws be faithfully executed.” In other words, the president is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, not the attorney general or any of the other lawyers who work inside the Department of Justice, including special counsels appointed under Department of Justice regulations.

The doctrine of prosecutorial discretion, long recognized by the courts, holds that government prosecutors have almost unlimited authority to decide whether or not the facts and circumstances of a particular case warrant the opening of a criminal investigation and the prosecution of any individual. Thus, the ultimate authority to decide whether to conduct an investigation and prosecution under federal law rests with the president. It doesn’t rest with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, or Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Yes, presidents often leave those decisions to the Justice Department, the executive branch agency to which the president has delegated authority to enforce the laws passed by Congress. But that delegation does not abrogate the ultimate constitutional authority – and responsibility – of the president to make the final decision on the enforcement of federal law. And that has been an accepted understanding of the constitutional prerogatives of the presidency since our founding.

If he were able to force them out of office retroactively, perhaps he would try.

Democrats believe in the Jackson mantra of “the common man” against what has recently been called “the swamp”. It’s hard for a Democrat not to believe that his nominee represents “the little man.” Then comes, John F. Kennedy, and they go elite establishment on us.

mueller will keep going until he can find someone to lie about Trump. Damn this congress to hell. If we lose in the midterms it will be their fault period. I will vote, but I can sure understand those that are so put off by all of this that they just don’t give a crap anymore.

How many millions of tax payer dollars has Mueller turned to smoke? Can’t someone just fire him?

The last thing we need to do is give that crowd any ideas ... they’re just the type to do it, even if only retroactively.

Actually, Thomas Jefferson was a Republican. At least that what his party was called. Of course the party now called the Republican Party started later, in the 1850s.

Understanding that Americans are fed up with the corruption of the DOJ, FBI, and this special investigation, why in hell doesn’t the President exercise his right to fire the whole f’n shebang. Drain the swamp like he promised and do it NOW. Too much time has past. Polygraphs for all federal workers. If they put politics ahead of the needs of this country get rid of them.

Hint to Mueller: John Quincy Adams lived in Russia during in his younger years, then became President after a close election. Democrats attacked his administration by accusing him of entering into a corrupt bargain. Given the seriousness of the charge, isn’t that enough for a verdict?

mueller will keep going until he can find someone to lie about Trump. <<

Mueller HAS TO to keep going until the Administration changes...He has NO choice ......If he closes the case before with no findings, he'll be indicted for Treason...as well he should be....His Special Counsel "status" is the only thing saving his sorry ass
