HUD Secretary Ben Carson to be sued for suspending Obama-era fair-housing rule
Washington Post (Business Section) ^ | May 7, 2018 | Tracy Jan

Fair-housing advocates planned to file a lawsuit early Tuesday against the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and HUD Secretary Ben Carson for suspending an Obama-era rule requiring communities to examine and address barriers to racial integration.

The 2015 rule required more than 1,200 communities receiving billions of federal housing dollars to draft plans to desegregate their communities — or risk losing federal funds.

The 2015 rule, developed over a six-year period, required every community receiving HUD funding to assess local segregation patterns, diagnose the barriers to fair housing and develop a plan to correct them. Most communities were supposed to submit their plans to HUD every five years, beginning in 2016. Communities without HUD-approved plans would no longer receive federal housing dollars.

Can't just suspend Obama's rules, that would be unconstitutional.

This is the rule that allows them to put low-income housing in rich neighborhoods, whether they want it there or not.

Never-mind that any past attempts at building “the projects” have flushed billions down the crapper and destroyed entire towns.

My Aunt and Uncle lived in a beautiful old Polish neighborhood, until they bulldozed the houses across the street and put in “the projects”.

Their housing value went down to almost nothing, the area is now like a war zone, and “the projects” are empty, run down, rat-infested ghettos where all the plumbing was torn out, and all the homeless and drug dealers thrive.

The progs/LIBs can’t help but sue. I’m sure they’ll shop around for a compromised loser judge who will take the case. This speaks to how desperate these lunatics are.

“Fair Housing” is the Left’s euphemism for what used to be called “block busting.” It is an example of the “diversity cult” in action, stirring up animosity between racial & ethnic groups on the pretense that people need to be diversified, whether they like it or not.

What? Does the Trump administration think that they have the same authority to make rules that the Obama administration had? Who do they think that they are?

Oh pleeeez....This fair housing has been done for 50 years...Obama did an add on which is just stupid.

My daughter is VP at a mortgage company and says what they have to certify to year after year is a pain, unnecessary. If you don't qualify, you don't qualify.

You can’t force desegregation... government tried it and failed miserably... why do you think it all came down to forced bussing??? Because every other way the government came up with to FORCE integration failed... so they used the schools as their social hammer to try to do it, and still communities are just as segregated in the macro as ever.

Because, shock, people generally tend to like to be around other people like them.

Actually its even worse, to reverse Obama rules.

Yes, I am as surprised and as outraged as you about it. No one has ever considered doing this before Trump.

Good thing we have some constitutional expert judges on the courts to stop this sort of thing.

"Fair Housing" jamming low income housing in the middle of high end homes is a violation of the 5th Amendment. It is a "taking" of property without just compensation. The loss of property value is the "taking". The cause is government action, thus the culpable party is obvious. If you intend to drop a turd on the plate of filet mignon, you will be expected to pay for the filet mignon FIRST. Give the property owners an "out" before irreparably damaging their property values. You are then in a position to test your contention that there is no damage by fully bearing the burden in advance. If unwilling to do that, then cease and desist.

Libtards have confused Obama’s tyrannical dictates with the Ten Commandments chiseled into Moses’ stone tablets.

Forcing “fair-housing” rules on neighborhoods cannot, LOGICALLY ever work.

Forcing neighborhoods to become racially integrated, will just result on destruction of the neighborhood’s attractiveness, and when that happens, PEOPLE WILL JUST MOVE OUT to a “better” neighborhood or will establish newer and better neighborhoods.

If HUD were to force the whole country to be racially integrated, then, the entire country would end up being no better off than a poor third-world shithole.

Even the rich and well-off minorities would balk at having their houses and neighborhoods get devalued because of some crazy feel-good regulation

Now, I’d like to see the upper-east side of Manhattan build a project right in the middle of the “rich” neighborhoods, where rents can be in the many thousands of dollars per month, and condo prices can be in the many millions. The “well-off” living in those type of neighborhoods are mostly liberals, so, let’s see how they like having their pricey and attractive and uppity neighborhoods destroyed by their own madness.

I have lived in the Tampa area for more than 30 years now, and I have seen neighborhood after neighborhood destroyed by the equal-housing stupidity and the affordable mortgages madness of the Clinton and Carter administrations. The “better off” have been leaving the city of Tampa and have continued moving more towards the outskirts and suburbs. For me, it’s now time to move again, and guess why? And, I’m not alone, where most of the people that lived in my neighborhood are now gone, and those moving in are not as caring about their properties as those that have left.

But, with liberals, it’s all about the appearance of equal housing and equal rights, and they don’t care who gets hurt, even if it’s they themselves that are being hurt.

Some areas in Tampa are reversing. South Tampa is being “gentrified.” Of course, you and I can’t afford the million-dollar homes that are replacing the slums, but it’s all good. Eventually, the whole area will be out of reach as the New Yorkers have overpopulated and contaminated the East Coast. Tampa is the #1 market in the country, so it’s a great time to sell. Too bad there’s not any great bargains within commuting distance.

Great, they just flushed out a pair of ghetto negro families who moved into my Condo complex back on 2013 under 0bamas fair housing deal. These people wreaked havoc for 4 years. Destoying property, drug busts, domestic violence. The condo owners would bot evict them because the Section 8 checks were a monthly, no hassel given. The HOA couldnt act because of 0bamas law. When Carson did away with the law, both famlies were gone within 3 months.

Now some liberal judge is going allow this filth back in.

Sucks to be a white Christian male in America.

What a slap in the face to a black family that works hard to afford a nice house in a nice neighborhood, then have their investment destroyed by "fair housing" turning the nice neighborhood into a crime infested mess.

I've observed similar problems in apartments in eastern Mira Mesa (part of San Diego). It went "section 8" and immediately attracted a community of drug users and thieves. Lots of domestic violence calls for the PD.

We have a similar problem in my area of Idaho. Large swaths of trailer parks originally established to build enough population to qualify for state liquor licenses. Today, they are inhabited by the welfare class. My wife is a police dispatcher. She knows the names and addresses of the frequent bad actors.

We think Obama is bad but he really has done nothing original. He was a Kenyan Soros Puppet. He’s that stupid and unimaginative being intellectually lazy. I think that SOB LBJ has done far more reaching harm to America that is killing America today.

This was never about desegregation.

This was about busting-up reliably “red” voting blocs in the suburbs to give Democrats a political edge.

And partly about class warfare tinged with race.

It’s not rich neighborhoods. The rich are protected. It ‘s middle class neighborhoods in the burbs. And the problem isnt just dumping poor people into these areas. It’s sending large numbers of kids into the local schools, increasing local school budgets which must be paid by local homeowners since renters do not pay prop tax and the builders/owners of these new units will pay: zero if it is govt housing and very little because of tax incentives if privately built and owned.
