The Western media have ignored the fate of the Kurds, the people who defeated ISIS for us.
UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson tweeted, "Turkey is right to want to keep its borders secure". The West gave the Turks a green light to massacre the Kurds.
The Kurds today, like the Czechs in 1938, were sacrificed in vain. The West has betrayed the Kurds three times in the last three years. They were our ideal allies. They opened their cities, such as Erbil, to tens of thousands of Iraqi Christians expelled by ISIS from Mosul. Iraqi Kurdistan is today the only place in the Middle East, along with the State of Israel, that harbors and protects all religions and minorities.
A new "Munich Syndrome" is now looming over the West. The Kurds, if they did not deserve a state, were at least worthy of our protection, especially after helping us to stop those who slit our throats on the boulevards of Paris.
The Kurds have a proverb: "We have no friends but the mountains". In Afrin, however, even the mountains could not protect them from the Turkish warplanes and the Islamist militias allied with Ankara. Although the videos of terrifying executions are certainly not new in the tragic war of Syria, in this instance the video was shot by a terror group operating under the command of a NATO country, Turkey.
The video shows members of Syrian militias abusing the corpse of Amina Omar, a female Kurdish fighter who was also known as "Barin Kobani". She was killed defending Afrin, a city-canton in Syria attacked by the Turkish army of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The West does not just equal the U.S.A.
We have helped the Kurds a great deal, both in Iraq and in Syria. And they spilled large amounts of their own blood ending the Evil of ISIS. It is an alliance that worked well for both of us. Until Turkey invaded and restored ISIS and al Qaeda Terrorists to a beautiful stronghold in Northern Syria called Efrin (Afrin).

Nobody stepped in to help the defenders in Efrin. With horrible consequences. Russia allowed it to happen.
I understand what Russia, Turkey and Iran were trying to do to the US. It is hard to convey to our Kurd allies.
Now we must protect them from both Turkey and Iran. It's not my call, nor do I want to speculate on how to handle it, but it must be handled.

Indeed, we helped the Kurds fight ISIS in Kurdish lands. We helped them fight the ISIS invaders because they are our common enemy. And because WE helped them, the Russian and Syrian forces mostly stayed out of Eastern Syria. The Turkey - Kurd issue is a completely different animal, as Turkey is taking advantage of Syria's inability to control the North, and pressing their generations old conflict with the Kurds. If anyone, including the Kurds, thought the USA would go to war with a NATO ally to protect them they are delusional. Did anyone think we would shoot down Turkish jets, or attack Turkish artillery? Maybe they expected we would send in thousands more ground troops to fight in Afrin? This was not a betrayal, as we never offered to fight Turkey.
Also, those who say Russia "let it happen" greatly overestimate Russia's ability to stand up to Turkey in Northern Syria.

The Kurds have worked with USSF from the 5th Group since the 90’s according to men I met who retired from there. Sadly, the Kurds seem to be the modern day Montagnards.
It was a serious mistake.
I know that the commander of NATO did.
I know that Russia did.
I do not have evidence the the US military did.
Turkey effectively re-established ISIS and al Qaeda in Afrin. A beautiful peaceful place until those vermin came.
Some of the events within Efrin (Afrin) have seeped out. A few of them I have posted in comments. Others I conveyed to some in freepmail.
Turkey is clearly guilty of horrible war crimes against humanity. Nobody can dispute them. And as yet, they don’t seem to be discouraged about continuing.
It think we are near a point of no return with Turkey, because of Erdogan the Islamist.
SOS Pompeo and John Bolton are a sea change from their predecessors. They seem to fit well with Trump’s nature.
The Turkish Foreign Minister will be in DC this week. Date not announced. I’m sure direct talk will take place.
There is a lot going on with relations with Iran. Threat of war between Israel and Iran are very real. This would of course include US.
I agree with most of what you said. I do not believe we betrayed them. I think we did a poor job of dealing with Turkey.
Turkey, Russia, Iran and Assad made a deal. Assad got rid of the ISIS near Damascas, Turkey got Efrin, Iran weakened our foothold in N. Syria. (not to occupy, but to support our Kurd allies)
We would and will fire on anyone who attacks US and our allies in Northern Syria where we have air control. That was worked out before and Russia had control of Efrin to keep Turkey out.
The deal was made to take the US out of the Middle East. And Turkey is no longer an ally, even thought currently is still a NATO member.
I doubt there is a fix for that problem as long as Erdogan the Islamist is still in power in Turkey.
Both Turkey and Iran are having finance issues. Both have potential threats against the leadership due to oppressive nature.
I cannot see past this point, nobody else who is honest, will say they can.
I can see past this point that the Kurds will continue to be betrayed.

Afrin is a tragedy.
We have done well to give them a defensible border and a buffer between them and the terrorists relocated to Turkey’s Aleppo corridor.
And the West has an interest in those borders being defended.
So awful what goes on there. Like our warfare with the indians, only more barbaric. There, displaced populations are troops. Turkey is effectively occupying Irbil, Afrin and Aleppo.
We just moved the Indians away.

I have an article somewhere, where he defended Erdogan’s invasion of Afrin. Am having trouble finding it now. It did happen, I was very angry when I read his response about Turkey border security issues.
