Asian business owners terrorized during Raleigh home invasion robbery

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) -- A Raleigh family was terrorized by three masked and gloved gunmen who forced their way into an East Raleigh home, tied the family up, and robbed them.

The victims are owners of three Chinese restaurants in Wake County.

The home invasion robbery is the latest in a rash of robberies targeting Asian business owners in the Triangle.

Jun Wang, 22, arrived at his home in Edgewater at Rogers Farm just before 11 p.m. Monday night to the surprise of his lifetime.

He told ABC11, "My key was still in the door as I opened and they just jumped out from behind the door with like gun pointed in my face and was like, 'Don't scream' or 'Don't make any noise' or 'Do you want to die tonight?'"

Wang and his parents each run one of three Wang's Kitchen restaurants in Wake County.

This type of crime is exactly why his family has an alarm system on their home.

But when his mother arrived just minutes before him, she made a mistake.

"She went in first, turned off the alarm. And then she turned back to close the door. Then they came in like three people all came in, pushed the door open and then forced a gun and then tied her up," he said.

He said he struggled with the robbers as he came in and one of them apparently dropped a gun just outside the front door.

Minutes later his father arrived.

"He found a gun on the floor outside the door and as he was picking up and coming in to the door they grabbed him, grabbed the hand, the gun, the hand and they forced the gun away and then start beating him because he had the gun," Wang said.

Very slick home invasion conducted by Spanish-speaking perps, who took control of the situation and did not seriously hurt any of the vics.

Asians are well known for not keeping assets at the bank. Anybody, who robs an Asian home, will almost certainly get hundreds of dollars or a few thousands.

On the plus side, they are now, almost certainly, confirmed supporters of the Second Amendment.

I see what you're saying... As opposed to the messy murder of the restaurant owner a few weeks ago in Durham. That was an abortion.

I don’t think anyone is on the bad guys side. He is merely stating the facts. The cops will not be on this like they would if the victims were killed. Just be aware of your surroundings.

“MS-13?”

Wouldn’t surprise me if these were gangsters from any of the countries south of the border. Unlike in those countries, the odds of being killed and buried in an unmarked grave are much lower even in the scummiest ghettos stateside, given the far smaller number of bad guys per square mile. Our murder rates for the most dangerous cities are lower than Mexico’s national murder rate. Which means Mexico’s most dangerous cities have murder rates that are simply unimaginable - the kind where you get some random classroom of students abducted, tortured, shot and buried in mass graves.

Unlike in Latin America, we have the death penalty, cops who actually clear homicide cases with arrests and prisons that aren’t like halfway houses with all the amenities that money can buy, so foreign Latin gangsters are likely to be ultra careful. I think it’s a real possibility that they’re foreign perps - maybe even pros from some foreign gang, given how well-executed this was.

I’d like to see far more of these evil thugs shot, with the ordinary, decent citizens making the news for their contributions to community safety. Even more than that though, I’d like for it to happen and no one ever hears of it. “Shoot, shovel, and shut up.”

Agreed. Zhang Fei wasn’t complimenting the bad guys, just pointing out their method of robbery. He didn’t mention the previous incident in Durham, but I’m betting it was on his mind when he made his comment. A brutal murder is more likely to bring the Heat down on the perps than a regular old robbery. In the Wake and Durham area...liberal NC bastions...it’s OK with the Powers-That-Be to redistribute the wealth...just don’t eliminate the tax-paying constituents.

They used to hang horse thieves from the nearest tree. Going back further, they used to let their bodies rot on those trees, until the flesh on the carcasses had been picked clean by critters - as a warning to all but the most motivated bad guys. Now we provide three hots and a cot to the most depraved murderers, and call it progress. Gotta wonder, sometimes.

The down side of that approach is “what if you hang the wrong horse thief, or it was all a misunderstanding, or he could have reformed?” The up side is when you catch someone on your horse, or in your home, the chances that it’s the wrong thief or a misunderstanding are minuscule. As for the chance of reform, thieves have that chance before each crime. Once they cross the threshold, they deserve a chance to discuss their sins with God . . . face-to-face.

Note: I’m not a whole lot more sympathetic to invaders who enter our country illegally. Once they cross that border, they deserve no sympathy. Deport them all, and if they get shot resisting arrest, it serves them right for being here illegally to begin with.
