Treasury inspector general launches probe into possible leak of Michael Cohen’s banking records
The Washington Post ^ | 9 May 2018 | Beth Reinhard and Emma Brown

The Treasury Department’s inspector general is investigating whether confidential banking information related to a company controlled by President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen may have been leaked, a spokesman said.

Rich Delmar, counsel to the inspector general, said that in response to media reports the office is “inquiring into allegations” that Suspicious Activity Reports on Cohen’s banking transactions were “improperly disseminated.”

Detailed claims about Cohen’s banking history were made public Tuesday by Michael Avenatti, an attorney for Stormy Daniels, the adult-film star who was paid $130,000 by Cohen shortly before the 2016 election to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump.

There is something very natural about the photo of Stormy from the link.

They bypassed the Attorney General’s office. Someone probably ought to go and hire up a lawyer and prepare to be either fired, or sent off for a couple of months in some prison deal.

Someone should go to prison for this, and it isn’t Michael Cohen.

Well, if they didn't that would mean they'd have to wake Jeff up, give him time to get the phlegm situated, find his slippers, wait for him to have tea, help him to his walker, guide him down the hall...

...well, you know.

In before EEE!

Guiliani knows the ropes and who to go to for results. I'm almost thinking that Rudy was waiting for Avenatti to screw up.

This may be the real reason that Schneiderman quit. (That's my gut talking)

I’ve said in the past, ditch the FBI and DOJ investigating itself and have the treasury depart investigate.

Jeff is as complacent as they come.

The IG knew this would go nowhere with Jeff, so he started his own investigation.

One day, someday real soon...at least one of these countless "investigations" into the coup against Trump and our political process, better lead to prison time.

Mueller's dirty fingerprints are behind all of this.

I predict the IG will be just as effective at this investigation as he was in the Tea Party tax exemption investigation.

The problem with government, they take confidential documents and leak them, sheesh, that is CRIMINAL at the least.

Someone sure should. Some people are required to file SARs and it has to be confidential. It doesn’t mean anything illegal has happened just adds a layer of scrutiny and is a CYA. If he went from depositing $10K to $100K I would have filed one. I keep working with the client unless I’m told otherwise and no one is supposed to know about the SAR!

Yep, the government is committing worse crimes than the person they are investigating, what next, will they release his medical records. This really stinks, it's an aggravated crime.

Let’s just call him “Rip Van Sessions”

He’s just trying to expand the scope of the eventual discovery process.

In the hopes of driving a massive settlement offer.

He appears to be a very effective advocate for the porn actress. It’ll be a big payday for both of them.

I guess this puts the lie to Kimba Woods' "special masters" or Mueller's "clean teams."

This guy reminds me of the little girl in my kindergarten class. The teacher left the room during nap time and said, “Don’t anybody open your eyes until I get back.”

when she got back, sally jumped up and said, “Billy opened his eyes while you were gone!”

Heck, it cracked me up at the time. So does this.
