President Emmanuel Macron urged his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rohani to join France, Britain and Germany in sticking to the terms of their 2015 nuclear agreement, despite U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the accord.

In a telephone call a day after Trump unilaterally announced he was pulling out of the agreement and would reimpose sanctions on Iran, Macron said his aim was to "preserve regional stability."

"The French president emphasized the willingness of France to continue enforcing the Iran nuclear agreement in all respects," the Elysee said in a statement after the call. "He underlined the importance that Iran do the same."

Sure.

We unfroze the Iranian assets, sweetened by a billion dollar plane-load of hard cash.

The Iranians spend it with the Europeans, building their Doomsday weapons capability.

Of course the Europeans want the money flow to continue.

And, if things go really bad, either Israel is gone, or Israel nukes Iran, or the US steps in and saves everybody, like before.

Yes. The JCPOA plan of action agreement is among Iran, France, UK, China, Russia, Germany, the EU in addition to the US.

It’s not US and Iran only.

Just because one participant withdraws doesn’t mean Iran and the others need to abandon the plan.

Unless it’s only about getting the US’ money.

But it couldn’t be just about that, could it? /s

The nuclear farce is all about money. The Iranians pretend to denuclearize and the Europeans get to bypass trade sacnctions.

Since the Euros are not existentially threatened, they don’t give a damn about anything except maintaining trade with Iran. They prefer Iranian Gulf hegemony to Arab Gulf hegemony.

Iran and Europe are not.

The Gulf Arabs and all east of Suez (including Egypt) is the future.

Of course the Europeans want the money flow to continue.

That sums up the whole issue, right there. If they ever say, it’s not about the money, you can best believe, it’s ONLY about the money.

So Iran is still bound by the deal (as much as they ever were), to keep trade with the Euros, but they lose protection from sanctions, subversion or attack from the US regardless.

Iran is screwed coming and going.

I tend to think the deal is better than no deal.

For lots of cash to greedy Europeans, Iran is kept from being a major imminent danger.
