Not accurate. Gov. Abbott has given the county about $1 million in state taxpayer money to cover costs.
Of his own money? absurd. He doesn’t just write checks out of state funds. There is an actual legislative process for spending in Texas. I just don’t think that is true at all.
Do your homework. Or I’ll do it for you.
County accepts $646,000 Twin Peaks reimbursement from state
“ which came from the County Essential Services program, part of the governors criminal justice division.” (Note: Abbott is the Governor).
“McLennan County received $268,527 in October 2016”

So non-Texans can share in the pain:
“the city has gotten an almost $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.”

The city may have gotten some separate funding. And I recall an early, smaller grant to the county which I can’t locate this evening.
In any event, just shy of $1 million at $914,527 from Abbott’s office, and another approximate quarter of a million from the federal taxpayers, bringing it up over $1.2 million from Abbott and Sessions.
Thanks. Didn’t know that. That is a drop of rain on that fiasco but you are right. Other cities will now line up
