Gasoline prices in Fresno already increased beyond $4 per gallon this week at some places in town.
And gas prices are projected to rise even more going into the summer in the aftermath of President Donald Trumps decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal.
A year ago, the national average for was $2.34 for a gallon of gas, according to a CNN Money report. These days, that national average has jumped to $2.81 per gallon.
Those in Fresno can probably add a dollar on top of the national price, with high state taxes and stringent standards for reformulating gasoline raising consumers costs in the Golden State.
Prices of crude oil and gasoline already had been steadily rising. Wednesdays oil surge brought prices to its highest prices in more than three years, according to CBS News.

Oil barrel prices are going down... why is gas going up?
(I mean, is it something other than the usual summer increase?)

I don’t live in California, so I don’t care.
$2.79 here...................FL Panhandle..................
Increased demand, higher gas taxes, not enough refineries, change to summer fuel blends.
What a damn shame........ only in California, America gone bad
(why is there no revolt?)
Californians need to pay more taxes for living in a ‘Rat Utopia.
CA gets the gas prices it deserves, in fact it should be higher!
From oilprice.com:
“The real effects of decisions made by Trump will be felt within 180 days, as this is the official timeframe. However, based on remarks made by the U.S. Ambassador to Germany yesterday, straight after decision, Washington could decide to speed up the implementation time-frame. In a ceteris paribus situation, the removal of Iranian oil exports would be hitting the market at present very hard. Price volatility could be extreme, leading to price levels between $80-100 per barrel. The latter would, however, result in possible demand destruction in Asia, and lower economic growth in most Western countries, including the U.S.”
It will also pump cash into Vladimir’s pockets.
This bonehead truly believes that is the root cause?
That’s why I drive a 2015 Honda Fit EX. I want to drive a car that won’t burn a hole in my wallet every time I fill up.
I think the price was $70+ yesterday
Wonder if CA will rethink the mandate that gas be made out of gerbil farts, or whatever it is they require?
Californie’s not the place you ought to be, $2.59 in the state of Tennessee.
Crude oil prices are way UP since the one-sided Iran deal was scuttled. Plus, Californicators only use boutique gasoline blends, which cost more.
Yesterday, I filled my tank at $2.469 per gallon.
