As part of National Security Adviser John Bolton's full overhaul of the National Security Council, he's "leading the push to abolish the role of special assistant to the president and cybersecurity coordinator," the top White House cybersecurity job, Politico reports, citing one current and two former U.S. officials. One of the former officials said there's a "60-40" chance the White House eliminates the job, potentially leaving the U.S. government rudderless heading into elections in which Russia is widely expected to meddle.

I’m sure USCYBERCOM’s commander (dual-hatted as Director of the NSA) can advise the president on such matters.

Isn't there like, oh, a US Department of Cyber Security?

Or a whole bunch of them?

https://www.us-cert.gov/

https://www.dhs.gov/science-and-technology/cyber-security-division

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Cyber_Command

https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/new-us-cyber-security-policy-codifies-agency-role

The Department of Justice, acting through the FBI and the National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force (NCIJTF), will be taking the lead on threat response activities;
The Department of Homeland Security, acting through the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center, will be the lead agency for asset response activities;
And the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, through its Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center, will be the lead agency for intelligence support and related activities.

Maybe they just need to do their job?

If war with Iran erupts, one of the ways for the Iranians to strike back is cyber warfare. If we get hit hard, Bolton’s decision is going to be open to strong criticism.

The role allowed OPM to be completely breached.

How did 0’s guy think a warning page saying “Please do not access these things without permission” was enough?

From the article:I am still blown away by the serious affect "Russian election interference" had in the 2016 election. Just think, without the Russians' help, Killary might have become president.

The Russians/Soviets have been trying to interfere with American elections for almost 100 years.

It’s never been worth mentioning until the last 24 months. Wonder why?

Even though there’s evidence to suggest Admiral Rogers was the one who gave Trump the heads-up about a lot of the Obama insanity directed at him, I’m sure Trump and Mattis were dumb enough to put a four-star globalist in charge of the newest UCC and premiere surveillance agency in the world.

Trump seems to be manning a large oar in the water acting as a pretty good rudder.

Bolton likely too.

Maybe Snowden could come back and straighten the bits out.
