One victim was shot in the arm at a California high school on Friday morning and a suspect was detained, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The suspect, described as a "male Hispanic juvenile" by the department on Twitter, was not identified. Police also said they had recovered one firearm from the scene at Highland High School in Palmdale, California, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles.

The victim is a student, Capt. Darren Harris, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, told the Los Angeles Times.

"That student is going to be OK," he said.

The suspect is also a student, according to Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Nicole Nishida. She told the Los Angeles Times that he was arrested in a nearby parking lot.

In a statement, the school district's superintendent, Raul Maldonado, said, "It has been confirmed that earlier this morning, there was an active shooter on the Highland High School campus. Apparently, the person was already apprehended."

This one's headed to the memory hole via the express chute.

Earlier reports of an active shooter at nearby Manzanita Elementary School were false.

Was it AR worthy? If not, no wailing required. Remember in the not too distant past when HCI was the meme of the day. Handguns. Pure evil.

It’s against the law (CA regressive gun laws) to carry a firearm within 1000 feet of a school and also CA schools are gun free zones so therefore he violated those two laws plus the shooting. So how did those two gun laws work out? Guess he’ll be fined and jailed accordingly.

But any enforcement or punishment might bump against the Obama 'promise' program for school children to not be punished for infractions or breaking the law if they are of a minority status as to not perpetuate the school to prison path minorities face unjustly. This unfortunate child should get the same break that Cruz got at parkland high in Florida.

This whole story is Fake News.

No guns are allowed on school property.

Could not have happened.

Like the shooting at Brashear High School in Pittsburgh back in 2013.

Huge, huge wall-to-wall national story. Three students shot as school was being dismissed at three o'clock.

By 6 that evening, the story was gone, at least on the national level.

Turned out to be a fight between drug dealers in a predominantly A-A high school. Gone. MSM backed away like it was radioactive.

CA has the toughest gun control laws in the country.

Proving wrong lil David Hogg’s notion school shootings wouldn’t occur if people couldn’t get guns.

What was that again about liberal hoplophobia? It doesn’t make a lick of sense.

Heck, it doesn’t even prevent school shootings!
