The National Rifle Association (NRA) filed a lawsuit on Friday against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and the states financial regulation agency, alleging a blacklisting campaign aimed at getting banks to cut ties with the gun group.
NRA asserts that Cuomo and the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) actively worked to strip the NRA of its right to speak freely about gun-related issues and defend the Second Amendment, Reuters reported.
The lawsuit claims that Cuomo and Maria Vullo, the chief of the NYDFS, engaged in a campaign of selective prosecution, backroom exhortations, and public threats to force banks and insurance companies to end insurance services with the NRA.
A spokeswoman for Cuomo did not immediately respond to requests for comment. An NYDFS spokeswoman declined to comment to Reuters. The NRA's lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, comes after the NYDFS slapped insurance broker Lockton Cos. LLC with a $7 million fine earlier this month after a settlement with the financial regulator.

With the Republicans in charge of Congress, they should create United States Attorneys to Criminally Prosecute those that Violate Federal Laws, specifically when the victims are US Citizens.
\18 U.S. Code § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death. (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 696; Pub. L. 90284, title I, § 103(b), Apr. 11, 1968, 82 Stat. 75; Pub. L. 100690, title VII, § 7019, Nov. 18, 1988, 102 Stat. 4396; Pub. From the source document, this excerpt:
U.K. insurer Lloyds of London announced on Wednesday that it would terminate all insurance made available through the NRA after the NRA Carry Guard program was found to have unlawfully provided insurance "to gun owners for acts of intentional wrongdoing."
Who made this determination that such a clause was found? And upon whose law was 'intentional wrongdoing' defined?
Bunch of sleazy weasel words in the agitating article.

It sounds like they are trying to say that defending yourself in a court of law is tantamount to admitting the crime.

Exactly. I was trying to figure out how such a thing is determined beforehand thus saying that the insurer can cut ties, so that a wrongful doer cannot profit from his crime by getting insurance to cover his costs of defense if he loses the case.
What a tangle that would be!

Sue that mofo. Sue him good.
I had been boycotting any further NRA contributions after their dismal showing for Washington state and our wonderful Initiative 594, when they were a virtual no-show. Only printing a lame bumper sticker in the American Rifleman magazine (helpful to preach to the choir).
But I have been softening now that that POS legislation is reality here. They were way outspent by the anti-gun side, I just wanted them to make a damn EFFORT....well, now I am back on the rant.
Anyway, I will consider going back to helping them out now and again. This is encouraging.
