A madman with a knife attacked people—seemingly at random—in a busy section of Paris Saturday before he was fatally gunned down by police, BFM TV reported.
At least one person died and eight others were wounded in the attack, carried out near the Palais Garnier opera house, according to Le Parisien.
"I just saw the man knifing random people," wrote Twitter user Esohe Denise Odaro.
A police spokesperson confirmed the stabbing.
"Attack in the Second Arrondissement of Paris by an individual armed with a knife, attacker brought under control by the police service. More information to follow."

I love Paris, but it's just NOT safe anymore. Hubby and I were nearly involved in 3 terrorist attacks in Paris back in the 1990s -- three separate trips. One Metro bombing in August 1995 was a very close call.
The perps were all Algerian Muslim 'migrants' who lived in the vast No Go Zones of Paris.
