China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier begins maiden sea trial

China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier began its maiden sea trial early Sunday morning, state media reported, putting its home-made power and propulsion systems to the test.

The yet-to-be-christened Type 001A carrier left a shipyard at the northeastern port of Dalian at 6.45am, Xinhua said, and sailed out of the port half an hour later.

The local maritime authority has declared a restricted area in the Yellow Sea off the Dalian coast from Sunday to noon on Friday.

Military observers have been watching for signs the new aircraft carrier was about to start sea trials after photos of it being moved from its berth by tugboats were published by state media on April 23.

There was also speculation early last week that President Xi Jinping may oversee the sea trial during his trip to Dalian, where he met North Korean leader Kim Jong-un

Last Saturday, an advanced transport helicopter took off from the carrier deck, which military observers said was a signal the carrier was making its final preparations for the sea trial.

The 65,000-tonne Type 001A was launched in April last year and is expected to join the navy as early as the end of this year, well before the original target of 2019. However, a source close to the navy said it was “too early to estimate” when the new ship would be combat-ready.

The new warship is an upgrade to the Liaoning, China’s only operational aircraft carrier, a retrofitted Soviet-era Admiral Kuznetsov-class multi-role vessel.

Naval experts said the Chinese engineers and designers who built the ship had studied the most advanced military technology used by the Americans, as well as the former Soviet Union, and tried to incorporate it into the new ship to meet the practical needs of the PLA Navy.

Great upcoming talks between President Trump and Rocket Man.

But this carrier is an "on the other hand" moment.

We have class names for our ships, I.E. the Ohio class subs, the Nimitz class carriers, the Jimmy Carter class garbage scowls. So, I guess they will call this carrier "the Mao class", after their great murdering dictator. Paint it blood red for the millions upon millions that the commie dictator killed. That fits perfectly with dictators, socialists, communists, Amerikan Dimocommiecrats. All one and the same. Blood lust for power.

I wonder how well built and how reliable it is. I’ve heard the Chinese don’t maintain things very well and often don’t pay attention to quality. It’s hard to overcome cultural traits.

You might want to take a trip to China and hop a ride on one of their high speed trains - they’re not only state-of-the art and efficient, but they reflect how little attention America has paid to its’ own infrastructure.

Ok, I’m not fond of the terrorist supporting idiot, but the USS Jimmy Carter is a US Navy Submarine, manned by my Bubblehead brothers. They didn’t choose the name of their boat, yet they serve with pride and distinction. And the word is Scow, not scowl. Be told.

The stuff they sell us is crap, and they like it that way. They make tons of money, and America gets filled with their toxic garbage. Now, the stuff they make for themselves, may be different.

If by that you mean it’s a joke, you’d be right.

They likely have the 3rd best navy in the world now.

>You might want to take a trip to China and hop a ride on one of their high speed trains - they’re not only state-of-the art and efficient, but they reflect how little attention America has paid to its’ own infrastructure.<

And America has paid even less attention to China's history of craftsmanship. The junk they sell the US is deliberately cheap and unreliable. There are two, in my lay opinion's reasons for this.

First is the utter contempt China has for White dominated Western Civilization. After all, China was very satisfied with their own civilization, scholarship, craftsmanship, and history. This sense of serene self-satisfaction made China isolationist, almost a hermit kingdom like Korea was.

However the West, the Foreign Devils came in and tore China apart. We were called Foreign Devils not only because we were foreign, which China has always viewed as undesirable. The concept of Devils came from the fact that White skin color was like that of dead Chinese. The Whites were certainly foreign, and certainly were devils. Since White Westerners pushed, killed, destroyed, and otherwise broke China's stability the Chinese have hated us with a passion that Americans cannot understand.

The Chinese hate blacks even more than whites for certain well documented reasons. Blacks are westerners which reinforces Chinese hatred of them.

The Chinese know their history. Americans don't. In fact thanks to our public schools, colleges, and universities we don't know our own history, and at present this will not change. The Chinese see us as lazy, ignorant, rich, and aggressive. They have a good basis for this.

The point I want to make is that the Chinese are capable of very good technical skills, and are well known for making very great products requiring much skill. However, they do this for Chinese products made by and for Chines living in China. They sell junk to us because they despise us, envy us, and are determined to conquer us and come into our nation and take over what we have built. And, given our current shortcomings and faults they will probably do so.

Yes China builds great infrastructure, great military organizations, and very aggressive economic and banking structures.

I ask, on bended knee, that those who hold the Chinese in the same contempt they hold of us, to make it a point to learn about China, admit its strengths, and use that as a model to rebuild our own country.

We are a great people in decline. We must make America Great Again. And I have great confidence we can and will do so.

But first we must know our adversaries. And China is currently the top of that list.

..........they probably should save their money since this ships movements I’m sure are monitored 24/7/365 by the U.S.

If hostilities break out the US Navy and/or USAF would not allow this ship to float for 45 minutes

If it’s anything like its first built commercial aircraft it’s probably sailing underwater at the bottom of the China sea right now.

They have an 80,000 ton carrier under construction that ditches the ski ramp for catapults.

which ever word, I did not know that one of our naval ships had been tainted with the fool’s name. I was making a joke about a ship with his name. I am retired military friend. I don’t make jokes about my fellow warriors in arms. Regardless of service I don’t make fun of them, except my pals in the Corps, whom I fondly still call Jar Heads!! But that is with affection. All our services have done hard and dangerous jobs, and I love them all. You cannot never, EVER, wash the thoughts of a fellow warrior in a body bag from your mind. So, there are never any anti anything, against my fellow warriors, except the likes of Jimmuh Kar-ter.
