One of our neighbors idealized Cuba and visited there a year ago on a tour. They thought they would find happy people playing domino’s in cafes and driving cool 50 ‘ s cars. Wrongo. We asked them what the he** they were thinking. It is a loser commie prison. They are very disillusioned and never discuss the trip.

One of the ironies of the Cuban revolution, is that one of Castro’s most effective rhetorical devices, was to stoke nationalist resentment, about Westerners making prostitutes of Cuban women along the Malecon in Havana.
After decades of communist rule, prostitution for foreign tourists became an even greater share of GDP, and they were paid relatively much less (and there was a marked increase in prostitution of pre-pubescent children).
Around a decade ago....several European resort chains came into Cuba and built some ‘fine’ resorts away from civilization there, and attracted a fair number of Europeans to fly over. What tended to result from this is that folks would be all happy over the resort, then get bused over to the cities, and find them pretty crapped out. If you stayed at the resort....you were ok.

I really want to go there for largemouth bass fishing. In the 40’s-50’s the Mafia introduced largemouths in the rivers, lakes and ponds. Cubans consider them trash fish like I consider carp and catfish. I looked into fishing there and the price is more than prohibitive, as well as all the, regs., and the hassle justdidn’t feel good. Maybe later.
