People don't realize that this head tax is SEATTLE. NOT surrounding cities such as Bellevue, Redmond etc that have their own city counsels.
Also this is ONE of the reasons--besides space--that Microsoft built its campus in Redmond. Back then it was VERY rural area and didn't have all the tax and business unfriendly attitudes that Seattle has often swayed towards.
People don't know much about the commie/socialist history of the Seattle General Strike. But look it up. The strain of commie mentality is strong in this city.
Microsoft has a large presence in Bellevue and Seattle. At least they did when I worked in Seattle and Bellevue. I understand the state was really ticked when they moved their licensing department out of state, taking away a HUGE amount of tax revenue from the state.
I don’t know how the city of Seattle handles it if you are a $20mm plus company but only have 30 employees in Seattle. Does that mean you pay the tax on those 30 people? I assume so.
