MH370 experts think they’ve finally solved the mystery of the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight
Washington Post ^ | 05/15/2018 | By Cleve R. Wootson Jr.

All but one of the 239 people on the doomed Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 had probably been unconscious — incapacitated by the sudden depressurization of the Boeing 777 — and had no way of knowing they were on an hours-long, meandering path to their deaths.

Along that path, a panel of aviation experts speculated Sunday, was a brief but telling detour near Penang, Malaysia, the hometown of Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah.

On two occasions, whoever was in control of the plane — and was probably the only one awake — tipped the craft to the left. The experts believe Zaharie, the plane's pilot, was taking a final look.

That is the chilling theory that the team of analysts assembled by Australia's “60 Minutes” have posited about the final hours of MH370. The conclusions have not been backed by any official findings from investigations into the mystery surrounding the March 2014 flight. But the experts on the "60 Minutes” show sought to draw the most likely scenario of the plane's fate from the little that is known.

They suspect that the plane's 2014 disappearance and apparent crash was a suicide by the 53-year-0ld Zaharie — and a premeditated act of mass murder.

But first, the experts said, they believe that Zaharie depressurized the plane, knocking out anyone aboard who wasn't wearing an oxygen mask. That would explain the silence from the plane as it veered wildly off course: no mayday from the craft's radio, no final goodbye texts, no attempted emergency calls that failed to connect.

That would also explain how whoever was in control had time to maneuver the plane to its final location.

The wreckage has not been found, though hundreds of millions of dollars have gone into the four-year search.

Have to figure the “experts” knew this info from the very beginning.

Why wait so long before finally “breaking” this on El Supremo Leftist 60 Minutes?

(Was this the gay pilot?)

When I was younger an expert was anyone with a briefcase that was more than 25 miles from home.

~~~
The same thing that makes just about anyone an expert who was interviewed for or had their information cited in any article. The writer declares them an expert so they can make their thesis sound credible. If the article is speculative on it’s face, they wont build up the expertise credibility much. But if it’s full propaganda, such as say, man-made climate change, they will spend half the article attempting to fabricate credibility.
Depressurizing the plane would cause the oxygen masks to deploy, and cause the cabin crew to go on oxygen with their masks and portable bottles.
The passengers would not have much of a supply, but the cabin crew could last awhile.
"...depressurize the aircraft..."
Which means he was in cahoots with the rest of the flight crew or he murdered them while pretending to visit the lavatory or whatever.
...knocking out anyone aboard who wasn’t wearing an oxygen mask....
Sounds fishy. Don’t they automatically deploy? No warming alarms?
[Oxygen masks]..Don’t they automatically deploy?
The cockpit controls are omnipotent, i.e., the cockpit members have full access to the switches, fuses and systems that can override or turn off the oxygen mask deployment. At least this has been my limited observation of the cockpit environment.
So this guy was a genius of disappearance, or just majorly lucky?
Not convinced. I can’t believe he wanted to totally hide his fate. Make it difficult, sure, but why care a lot about whether it’s found?
I mean, I can believe it, but I am amazed the plane has basically never been found, nor much of any debris. That is what puts a wrench in what was even intended.
While I do believe that the incident was the result of malicious action by the pilot, this theory can’t hold true as presented. At 35,000 feet, the temperature is around minus 60 Fahrenheit. Even with an oxygen mask, he couldn’t survive at that temperature for very long.
Could he have re-pressurized the plane after killing the passengers and other crew-members?
Well, the on-board oxygen supplies for the emergency passenger maks are very, very limited: Only enough for the plane to get below 10,000 feet and then use outside air. 3-6 minutes maximum - less if people are panicking or breathing heavy.
Still, many texts or phone calls can be sent in 3-4 minutes at 40,000 feet. Cell reception at 40,000 feet over the straits between the islands? Not likely very good.
The Washington plane crashed on 9-11 was much closer to the ground, and was directly over a cell-tower populated area of the Washington suburbs. So texts and phone calls could get out even from the plane after the hijacking.
Other crew oxygen masks? Not available of the co-pilot left the cockpit to use the bathroom - like the plane that a Muslim pilot crashed over Europe a few years back: The pilot was locked out of the cabin, and then the plane was flipped and dove into a mountain.
The communications were cut off from the cockpit. Only the pilot, or pilots could do that. According to the experts the wing flaps from the wing debris that washed up on the African continent indicated that the plane engaged in controlled descent. Meaning that somebody was in control and knew what they were doing. A true terrorist would have done his duty and crashed the aircraft into something to cause more damage, thus the theory of suicide is an obvious conclusion based on the limited amount of evidence.
I watched a program where the author of this theory was being interviewed... When asked ‘Why would the pilot commit suicide?’ his response was that looking at crash evidence was his expertise, and that they should ask somebody who deals with mental health issues.
The plane made a controlled descent and the likely pilot during such a maneuver would be the pilot, or pilots flying the plane. Maybe it was a suicide pact... And the fact is that we will never really know.
