By 2014, California was the top state in eighth-grade algebra enrollment. Common Core erased all those gains almost immediately

...

Before Common Core came along, California parents, faculty, and officials spent years developing some of the best-ranked K-12 math requirements in the nation. One result of their careful work was more than tripling the number of eighth graders who ranked proficient in math, and quadrupling the number of eighth graders taking algebra.

By 2014, California was the top state in the nation in eighth-grade algebra enrollment. That was the year Common Core went into place. It erased all those gains almost immediately,

...

Obama administration pushed states into Common Core in 2010, but it started phasing into schools at the earliest in 2013, and more in earnest in 2014 and 2015. That’s right when all the achievement jumps off a cliff.

...

evaluate how Common Core affects kids, the degradation of math instruction in a country already known for poor math instruction, the especially damaging effects on the most vulnerable kids, the lying to parents, students, and taxpayers about the quality of the classes their kids are taking and we’re all paying for.

Like the liberals love to say, “Kids don’t need to learn math. They have “smart” phones”. LOL.

All part of the plan. The next generation will have even less of an understanding of the fiscal mess that is created by Socialism and open borders. And will be even more receptive to demagogic calls for “the rich” to pay for it all.

Did they use common core math or old math to figure that out?

says that the math part of the Common Core standards is actually insufficient, leaving American students two years behind their peers in most high-achieving countries by the end of the seventh grade.

Would seem to be a successful govt program. What is the problem?

states had to get their university systems to agree to not remediate students who passed Common Core exams.

Isn’t that sweet, but seriously folks. If we actually taught these kids how to count, do you think any of them would bury themselves in student loan debt to get that fancy degree in lesbian dance theory? What about the perpetual debt we have enslaved them with, all to pay for our wants today?

We need these people that can’t count to keep the charade going.

Do they still teach Math? When do they have time, when they are mandated to teach Queer History, Transgender Sex Ed, Social Justice Engineering etc.?

The purpose of common core math was to raise a generation which would pay seventy-five dollars for a plastic guacamole bowl.

Please clap.

This is why socialists and communists have the least educated and least productive work forces. They are all about party indoctrination not education. The last thing they want is an educated population that can think for themselves.

“By 2014, California was the top state in the nation in eighth-grade algebra enrollment. That was the year Common Core went into place. It erased all those gains almost immediately.”

I know, I know, I hear it all the time (my comments in parentheses):

(1) “I don’t have the money to provide for my children’s education (and still maintain my lifestyle), so I’m going to use the ‘free’ education provided by the government schools.”

(2) “I paid PROPERTY TAXES, so I sure as hell intend to get ‘my money’s worth’ (regardless of what that means for my kids’ futures).”

(3) “It’s only THOSE SCHOOLS that suck - the schools that my children go to are just ‘wonderful’. Heck, I even met Johnie’s teacher at Walmart the other day. (therefore she’s ‘human’, just like you and me)”

(4) “Yea, I know those government schools are not the best, but they can’t pull anything over on me - I watch them LIKE A HAWK, never missed a PTA Meeting - so take that BobL (actually, unless there’s a webcam available to you in the classroom, they can do whatever they want with your kids - and you’ll only know what they choose to tell you)”

That was the goal of common core; the creator of that monstrosity said so himself.
