At the NRA annual meeting in Dallas, Texas, in 2018, protests were held outside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on Saturday, 5 May, 2018. By the time I arrived at the protest site, the main group of gun control supporters had left. I was told they numbered about 200-250 people.
Their numbers were dwarfed by the attendees at the NRA annual meeting. An estimate for meeting attendance was not available at the time of this writing. The last NRA annual meeting, in Atlanta, was 81,836. In 2016, in Louisville, it was 80,452. 87,154 has been reported for attendance at the 2018 meeting.
When I arrived at the protest site outside, the action was centered around a group of open carriers that were counter-protesting those protesting the NRA. The counter-protesters numbered about a hundred. There were a few anti-NRA protesters left. About 5-10 of them gradually came over to the open carry counter-protest.
Those who want more legal restrictions on guns equate the absence of guns with safety.
The two worldviews illustrated by the signs seemed completely disconnected.
Open carriers, and Second Amendment supporters, equate the possession of guns to safety.
Those who want more legal restrictions on guns equate the absence of guns with safety.
Both views make sense from the viewpoint of those putting them forward.
If you choose to be unarmed, anyone who possesses a gun holds a power advantage over you.

I still remember an old woman in 1968 who actually believed that gun registration, promoted after the Bobby Kennedy killing, would cure all the crime problems in the USA.

Pervy Weinstein said he's making it his mission to destroy the NRA. GEE I WONDER WHY? The rampant sex abuse and child molestation in the sleazy world of show biz has been a poorly kept secret for the last 100yrs. Now that it's out there it's abundantly clear why so many overpaid mannequins from Hollywood are so gaga for gun control. Potential sex abuse victims who can shoot back are bad for business. Funny how it works that way. The most militant hoplophobic gun control advocates tend to have serious ethical and legal issues of their own.
One of the first gun control laws, the Sullivan Laws of NY from 1911. What the gun grabbers don't tell you is WHO those laws are named for. Big Tim Sullivan, a Tammany Hall kingpin even more corrupt than the Clintons. He wanted to make the streets of NYC safe, for him and his cronies as well as the muggers and gangsters in his back pocket.
Charles Rangell, never mind his tax evasion issues that POS should've been arrested back in 1972 for obstructing justice if not aiding and abetting in the murder of NYPD Officer Philip Carrillo. Jesse Jackson Jr who did time for embezzlement.
Fmr Cong Corrine Brown recently convicted of similar charges.
Here's a doozy, Leeland Yee, a friend of Shannon Watts, aka Gun Control Barbie, who introduced legislation that would've effectively nullified the 2A, forced to resign because he's doing time for...wait for eeet...GUN RUNNING.
Remember Bernie Ward the anti gun liberal talk show host sensation who was gonna put Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in their place? He's spending the rest of his miserable life as a registered sex offender. Speaking of pervs fmr Seattle mayor Ed Murray, a charter member of Bloombergs Every town for gun sense declined to seek re election. Could it be because he's being investigated for molesting a bunch of boys including his 8yr old cousin?
The gun violence death clock put up near Times Square back in 1990. It was funded by Robert Brennan, a junk bond dealing scam artist who makes Bernie Madoff look like Mother Theresa. I'm sure he had pragmatic reason for performing this public service. Hey if I scammed all those old folks out of their life savings I'd be scared sh!tless if they, there kids or grandkids had easy access to firearms. Just saying.
And the hits just keep on coming! Fmr NY State Assy speaker Sheldon Silver was FINALLY convicted of corruption. Fmr.NY Atty Gen Eric Schneiderman, who may have set a world record for retiring after getting caught up in a nasty sex scandal, where he allegedly hurled racial slurs at one of mistresses while beating her senseless. Yeah, I could see why he'd be afraid of an armed citizenry.
Kenneth Glasgow, Al Sharpton's half brother and gun control activist, arrested for capital murder. Seems like 2 days after speaking at a march for our lives rally he hooked up with some other thugs to rob someone and one of his accomplices shot a woman with an ILLEGALLY obtained handgun.
These examples are just the tip of the iceberg. And these are the type of scumbags the Parkland punks and all the other gun grabbers have no problem associating with.

Peaceful coexistence with these people is not possible.
We should stop trying.

If they won’t coexist, let them disarm us.
But keep your eye on proliferating GVRO laws, which amount to lawfare against gun owners. Minimal requirements for proof, anyone can denounce a gun owner to the police who then get a GVRO warrant and the guns are taken, and almost no penalties for making false statements. Insidious and spreading.
GVRO: lets angry spouse, former GF, or liberal neighbor reach out and hurt someone, on the state’s dime.

If you use an acronym, it behooves you to (parenthetically) identify the words in the acronym after the first use. Otherwise someone has to post a picture of a bunny with a pancake on its head.

Hmm...haven’t seen the pancake wearing bunny in years. But the caption went, “I have no idea what you just said, so here’s a bunny with a pancake on its head”. I guess the next frame would have shown the bunny eating the pancake.
Anyway....GVRO means Gun Violence Restraining Order and I’m afraid it’s going to become a familiar acronym. Look up the California version; it was passed in 2016 but is serving as a model for other blue states. CA’s is scary because the state has an official confiscation squad and they go door to door.

May have mentioned this earlier, but Lyndon Johnson was angry & frustrated when he signed the GCA into law that year, because he failed to get national gun registration and licensing of owners, with which he intended to avenge the assassinations of JFK, MLK, & RFK, all of which were perceived as having been carried out by rightwingers.
Google LBJ’s remarks at the signing; nearest the U.S. ever came to having a dictator. But karma caught with him just four years later.

Thank you for the clarification. I wasn't sure if it was something like that, or a new type of aircraft.
