Roseanne Rebuffs ABC Bosses and Promises a ‘Braver,’ More Politically ‘Timely’ Show than Ever

Actress Roseanne Barr rebuffed her bosses at ABC Entertainment on Tuesday during the fall upfront presentations, promising that the next season of her hit sitcom Roseanne will be “even braver” and politically ‘timely’ than the last. “Don’t worry, #Roseanne show fans-next season will be even braver/funnier/timely than this season, despite what anyone mistakenly says.”

Barr’s comments come after ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey claimed the show’s next season would be “less political.”

“I think that they’re going to stay on the path that they were on towards the end of last season, which is away from politics and towards family,” Dungey told reporters on a conference call on Tuesday.

The show has enjoyed historically high ratings since its return to the airwaves in March, earning an impressive 27 million viewers on its debut, while also managing to maintain the majority of its audience since then.

Part of the rebooted Roseanne’s success may be attributed to its exploration of prominent issues such as Donald Trump’s election to the presidency, the effects of illegal immigration, and Muslims living in the United States.

Indeed, the latest episode of the show soberly tackles America’s deadly opioid and drug addiction epidemic.

When liberals are losing, they must SILENCE the opposition. When that fails, then they must be destroyed.
True in MSM Hollywood too. Tim Allen and Roseann both know.

Thin-skinned liberals can dish it out but not take it! The whole show could be political as long as it’s liberal puke. The minute there’s praise about Pres Trump, all hell breaks loose, and it’s ‘we gotta be less political!’ Morons.

exactly, Roseannes ratings are better than NFL Sunday Night Football!

ABC would rather tank the #1 show television than let her have free reign

YAWN, never watched it.

It's relevant and showcases blue collar America better than most shows on TV. TV execs are starting to understand that Americans want relatable TV shows not more superheroes, magic, or fantasy.

I think she had exactly ONE show where it mentioned her support for Trump. One. Because of that, liberals go bananas.

the raw numbers dont lie, any show that beats prime time football is a force to be reckoned with. Fox just brought back Tim Allen because of this...

I used the wrong word. It is a indoctrination for homosexuallity. I saw that from just one ad for the show. You are being distracted thinking it is a show about politics.

I only occasionally saw the old show decades ago. Never got into it. I have not see the new show, but I think I will try to go out of my way to see it now...starting to like Rosanne’s attitude.

You mean, people don’t want to see more shows with smart ass kids, or shows about yuppie singles in Manhattan?
