Exclusive — Rep. Dave Brat: ‘We’re Waiting’ to See Paul Ryan Stop Amnesty Discharge Petition
Breitbart ^ | 17 May 2018 | Sean Moran

Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview Thursday that conservatives are waiting to see how Paul Ryan will stop the illegal alien discharge petition.

Twenty-two establishment Republicans have signed a discharge petition to force a House Floor vote on an illegal alien amnesty bill. If 25 Republicans and 193 Democrats sign the petition, the bipartisan coalition can force a House vote on amnesty legislation.

“We have about 25 Republicans for this discharge petition. Many of them are retiring members, and the timing is pretty cynical when you bypass the primary season,” Brat told Breitbart News. “These folks are leapfrogging leadership; they’re going over Paul Ryan, McCarthy, Scalise, etc.”

“It’s a matter of leadership. You can’t have 25 Republicans offering a Democratic bill that the whole country doesn’t want — much less, Republicans going into the elections here,” Rep. Brat said.

The Virginia conservative then stated that the full amnesty bill could provide citizenship for up to ten million illegal aliens when combined with chain migration. Brat also noted that increased immigration depresses American wage rates to the benefit of big business interests.

Congressman Brat concluded, “This issue more than anything exemplifies the difference between the elites and the common worker. The swamp is always about money. We just did the omnibus to get nine Senate Democratic votes.”

Rep. Brat asked rhetorically, “Now, we’re going to go to the American people to give a terrible DACA deal when the swamp got the omnibus win?”

If it passes the House, get the Senate to rush it. If the Senate kills it, the issue is forgotten by midterms. If the Senate passes it, let the President veto it well before the midterms.

If this gets killed or vetoed by end of June, it will be dead for the midterms.

Not sure where you are getting the 22 count from as the article consistently states 25.

Yep, we covered that here during the Omnibus. The President got $700 billion military funds for 2018 and $719 billion for 2019 in the Omnibus. SO ... Congress has no leverage by holding military funding hostage IOW it’s off the table.

The Omnibus was for six months only to the midterms except for military funding which was funded for two years.

There’s a provision for Social Security and Medicare payments to keep flowing when the government is shut down and for essential services.

The Swamp is going to go bonkers in September. And this President is not going to back down because he’s got what he needs and will hold out for what he wants which is among other things $40 billion for the Wall.

If Ryan doesn’t have the competence, or courage, to kill this dead, Republicans will lose the House in Novemeber.

Why would anyone want to vote for a party that wants amnesty for illegals?

Yes, and the negotiations start in September. If he doesn’t get what he wants by October, the government goes down except for essential services, social security, medicare, and military.

Midterm election is November 6. People are solidly for the Wall.

And the deep state boomerang is going to blow back against the democrats causing a lot of pain.

The reason there is no funding for The Wall is because of republicans. They control Congress. Their choice will be to pass what the President demands or suffer a shutdown. They will pass funding for the Wall, they will defund programs that fund Planned Parenthood, and so on.

Republicans would rather pass what the President demands rather than be held responsible for a government shutdown. Trump will not back down. They know this or will learn it.

By October the President gets his budget. In November, the republicans keep control of Congress because the President held a gun to their heads and made them do what the American people demand and what he promised the people he would make happen.

Tucker Carlson had one of the RINO pro-Discharge Petition Congressmen on his Fox Cable show last night.

I forget his name - a really big white male from California who tried to overtalk Tucker Carlson on every point.

The Congressman was completely unprepared to debate and just repeated pro-Discharge talking points, again and again, and louder and louder, no matter what question was asked or what point Carlson was making.

My Conclusion - the Congressman's District is heavily Hispanic. Unfortunately, after his interview last night, he completely demoralized his Republican base. He is going to lose his election.
