The FBI has been working in recent weeks to soften the blow if the identity of a top-secret informant who fed information to investigators early on in the Russia investigation is revealed.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that FBI officials have been taking steps to reduce the potential damage to other investigations the informant is involved in and protect associates, in the event that the source is outed.

The scramble to mitigate the potential harm comes as allies of President Trump hone in on the informant's role in the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The “informant” wasn’t there to funnel information out.

The “informant” was there to funnel dis-information in.

“... reduce the potential damage to other investigations...”

My a$$, they’re scrambling to keep from being exposed as the political criminals that they became under the 0bama regime.

Watergate x 1000.

Watergate was a late night burglary to rifle through opposing candidate DNC files.

This criminal FBI and CIA was placing SPIES inside the campaign and wiretapping every single electronic thing they did.

People should be executed for this. It is pure police state treason and an attempt to conduct a coup. They should pay with their lives, or with life in prison.

The FBI has been filled with buffoons for at least 25 years.

Confidential Informant is not in Blacks Law Dictionary.

A CI is basically a criminal being black mailed by Leo's to set up people under the threat of being jailed and referred for prosecution if they cannot produce desired results.

He can’t be that top secret if we already can guess who he is.
Sounds like their next plan is to drop the Valerie Blame card on the table and claim Trump outed him.

Agree, they are covering their 6s, and trying to avoid an investigation of themselves.

Given Mule-ears past I would say the ‘informant’ could cause Mule ears to be indicted, for U1, mafia connections, etc. Mule ears is a criminal bastard and doesn’t want to be exposed.

“Watergate was a late night burglary to rifle through opposing candidate DNC files.”The squad was in search of a Madame’s little black book. They had photo equipment all ready on the desk to pix the pages.

Look for someone who was in the U1 scandal that Mule-ear set aside for harridan Hillary, someone who could tie Mule-ear to the funds paid to the Clinton foundation, probably via connection to one or more Russian oligarchs.

And it was the cover up that got Nixon not the break in.

Obama was part of the break in and cover up.

John Dean was the traitor to Nixon. He is probably who got the burglars caught that night. His pretty wife had been an escort service drone. Her name was likely in that little Madame’s black book, connected to people Dean hated thereafter.

Well Michelle or hillarys name can’t be in a black book... If it is whoever did that needs to go to jail for horribly low standards.

The public and Congress has a right to KNOW “WHO” are these corrupt FBI agents and leaders.

Who planned the operations, inserted any agents or informants, why, and who did they report to?

The FBI and DOJ cesspools must be totally cleanse or else the rot will take root again, and I say this as someone who has worked for or with DOJ, the FBI, and other law enforcement entities.

So right. How is it that the Congress and poor Jeff Sessions do not get this?

We came so close to losing our government. What were they going to do if they got what they wanted?

So many of our votes taken from us?
