Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner, Paul Allen, is pushing a Washington State gun control initiative in response to the May 18 Santa Fe High School shooting. The initiative, No. 1639, is called Safe Schools, Safe Communities, and it expands the gun controls placed on law-abiding citizens via the universal background check initiative that passed in 2014.
Paul Allen ✔ @PaulGAllen 18h My statement on a gun safety initiative in my home state of Washington:
Initiative 1639 is a reasonable and necessary measure that will improve the safety of our schools and our communities, which is why I have contributed a million dollars to the campaign. 1/2
Paul Allen ✔ @PaulGAllen I hope people throughout the state will support the campaign, so that we can qualify and pass this important initiative into law. 2/2

Initiative 1639 raises the legal age for semi-automatic rifle purchases to 21, although the gunman at Santa Fe High School used a shotgun. It also creates an enhanced universal background check system, although the Santa Fe High School gunman used his fathers guns, thereby bypassing any point of sale check. The initiative would also put in place a firearm safety course for would-be firearm purchasers, requiring them to secure a certificate from the state before being allowed to purchase a firearm. Again, this would not have stopped the Santa Fe High School gunman because he used his fathers legally owned firearms.

It’s weird how the communist party has wormed its way into professional sports. Whodda thunk.
The No Firearms League continues to dig the hole deeper.
PAUL ALLEN HAS A WHOLE ARMED SECURITY TEAM.
They habitually show contempt for our Anthem, our flag, our military, our ancestors, and our country. It makes sense that they would attempt to destroy our Constitution too. I hope the Seahawks are the first NFL team to disappear as their funds dry up.
Why not make gun safety and shooting proficiency a mandatory part of the high school curriculum?
These people are insane. The Santa Fe shooter stole his guns from his dad, right? How are more “Gun Control” laws going to prevent criminals from getting guns?
The U.S. Government. The best government MONEY can buy.
I think he’s only doing this to keep the boys on his “plantations” from getting into trouble.
Now he’s an idiot on two counts.
Just one more reason to shun the nfl
To hell with anything to do with it
Hope they lose every game they attempt to play.
The NFL jabs its thumb in the eye of its customers once again.
Paul Allen is a billionaire who doesn’t need to worry about personal security or defending his home. His team of armed security guards will do it for him. The hypocrisy exceeds the wealth.
