House bill would require discounts for drugs in Medicare's prescription drug program to be applied when the medicine is bought at the pharmacy, an effort to make sure that customers get the full discount instead of a cut going to insurers and drug middlemen.
The Phair Pricing Act of 2018 introduced Thursday builds on parts of a blueprint President Trump released this month to tackle drug pricing. It highlights a lack of transparency in the negotiations over rebates to lower prices for medications in Medicare Part D, the program’s prescription drug plan.

Sure, they’ll “discount” the medicare portion of the charges, but will make up for it with the patients “out-of-pocket” part of the bill. Big pharma will still get THEIR price.

Most seniors on Medicare take the same medicine refills for the rest of their lives. Once it is prescribed, why do they (and the taxpayers) have to spend money on a doctor visit to get a refill? Why do they have to see a pharmacist and the overhead it takes to buy a cholesterol medicine.
A senior moment is just as likely to hit a person taking a prescribed medicine as an over-the-counter medicine.
The over-regulation of medicine is a major reason for the high cost of medicine. Rearranging the chairs on the ACA Titanic is not going to solve the problem.
Ok, I am an old guy on Plan D which I paid for. It cost $33 per month and copay. USAA estimates my total cost to $1,900 this year. I would welcome healer drugs. I take Ancor that is advertised on TV. Costs $375 for one month. That’s what it cost to breath. Cheap drugs bring them on
If your problem is in your lungs, it will be all you need, and it is completely natural with no harmful side effects.
If the problemj also involves heart function,then you need to strengthen the discs in your upper spine too, to eliminate the nerve pinch that interrupts heart rhythm.

Because prescription drugs steadily damage your body, and it could be necessary to discontinue a drug that is causing serious problems.
When we have a physical and a blood test...we have to make ANOTHER appt for the results. They used to MAIL you the results unless there was a problem.
My doc mails my results. My appts went from one to two a year. I take two meds, copay doubled this year from 12 to 24 a quarter. Part D vendor is $25.00 a month. I am going to use their mail order prescription service with 0 copay.
I time my blood work for the results to be available to the doctor at the time of the appointment.
But I see my doctor more than annually.
And I do labs more than that.
Thanks, I’ll check out the English Ivy. Just got back from pain doctor. Spinal injection for my lower back. I have spinal stenosis also. Will have to have that operated on in the future. Lousy to get old.

Sounds like your spine may be the whole problem.
Cardiac insufficiency due to a pinched nerve can cause asthma-like symptoms.
Proper nourishment for your spinal discs (MSM, Chondroitin Sulfate, etc) might get you out of the woods completely.

I used to have lower back pain. Then I learned like about proper posture etc. Now I rarely have problem, and when I do I improve the posture things. [Can you do sit ups? There is a reason]
(considering how the back works FWIW probably it is always good to do anything that stretches the disks apart and causes them to more align, as lying on back and bending knees)

The nurse calls me and notifies me of my lab results. I’ve never heard of having to make a second appointment to get lab results, unless a new problem developed, that required more work-ups.

That’s both untrue and shows you have little regard for your fellow senior citizens! The fact of the matter is, drug companies are screwing Americans on their drugs. Canadian pharmacies are doing a land office business in mail order prescription drugs for Americans. Sometimes the price difference is 4X or more! As a “old person,” I can tell you that the drugs my wife and I have to take under Medicare, are by no means “free.” My wife takes one pill that costs $30 a day!
