Pelosi’s convenient memory lapse aside, the disturbing thing about the graph that accompanied the article is the fact that despite the fact that the economy is in the best shape it’s been in a decade, despite unemployment rates being at historic lows, and despite the fact that corporate profits are literally the best they have ever been, the deficit is going up. During an economy like this the deficit should be going down if not running a surplus. If the deficit is rising during times like this what will happen during the next economic downturn?
