Pentagon has approved another Homeland Security Department request for additional National Guards personnel in an effort to support specifically U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working by air, sea, and remote land regions, a DHS official confirmed Friday.
Approximately 1,100 guardsmen are stationed across the Border Patrol's nine sectors along the U.S.-Mexico border as of Friday. That number will soon surpass 1,800 just half of the 4,000 total troops President Trump approved of sending in early April.
This latest Request For Assistance is the third one since beginning of April..... "this request is specifically for the Office of Field Operations, Air and Marine Operations, and the Office on Intelligence."

Put 100,000 down and seal the border.
Whats the rules of engagement? Can they return fire if fired on? Thats bad man territory down there.
Do you think 45 is mandating bean bags?
IMO, a reasonably assessed threat should be met with equal or greater force - you don't have to wait to be fired on - that's Obama's stupid rules to help America lose.
I dont know but Odumer ran guns that way. My boy was in the line down there I would want a very harsh approach. No retreat, extreme prejudice.
We are on the same page.
Does your screen name mean you are a ‘52 model?
Office on Intelligence
Sounds like the NG GSR ops and tactical drone folks will get some hands on activity.
Yes and my wife of 45+ years says Im a horse s Asz. At this point I quit arguing Ill lose anyway.
Ha! I’m the same vintage but my cut-off age this year is 52. More power to ya.
Put some Marines down there running counter-insurgent patrols in and around wilderness areas.
WOOOHOOO! Great news. HOORAY Pentagon. HOORAY USCBP.
HOORAY President Donald J. Trump!

Thanks for the ping.
One of our grand kids is great with math and science and makes A’s in his STEM courses and maybe B’s or more likely C’s in his non STEM courses. His computer knowledge/skills makes him the family and neighborhood IT guy.
The B’s and C’s as a smart white middle class kid, means, he will not be able to get into any UC system to make room for illegals and other low lifes in the UC STEM Classes.
He is very fluent with Spanish now
I told him to load on the Spanish courses and to use Spanish learning audios in his vehicle while commuting to and from his private high school until he is graduated from high school.
Then, go to his local community college for more Stem and Spanish courses for a couple of years.
Then, after his first year of CC is over, to join the Navy or Army reserve and go active after his first year of reserve with two years of Stem/Spanish at the local CC.
He will be great with STEM and will be able to speak/listen and read Spanish as well as those living south of the border.
One of the adult neighbors on his home block was a Coastie Officer, and he is now with Homeland Security. He told our young relative, that he would hire him with a STEM background, being fluent in Spanish and of course computer smart.
This neighbor said that two years active in the Navy or Army with his STEM and Spanish knowledge would make him in high demand at HLS.
Our military intel people will need smart young people who are good with STEM, computer competent and fluent in Spanish for decades to combat the illegal invasion of America.
Then, after their active duty, they can go to work for HLS or a private security firm in California or the West coast for big bucks.
I had to look up STEM. I had no clue.
BOL! “ had to look up STEM. I had no clue.”
A couple of years of STEM in Middle School, 3 years in High School and a couple of years at a community college should be excellent prep for our old military groups in their new roles.
This sounds like a variation of the late 1980s “Task Force 6” that used Army and National Guard assets to do traffic surveillance along the US (mostly Texas)-Mexico border.
My memory on the name may be faulty as this was nearly 30 years ago.
Thanks for the ping. That is a lot of border and not many troops.
Use them and technology, as was done by TF Six, to cover the main identified border crossing routes that are not currently covered by surveillance and/or border fences.
