A leading activist has raised concerns over the ecological impact of solar panels a renewable energy technology widely considered to be harmless to the environment.
Michael Shellenberger the president of Environmental Progress, a nonprofit organization working to promote clean energy detailed the real-life impacts of discarded solar installation.
Solar technology typically contains cadmium, lead and other toxic chemicals that cant be extracted without taking apart the whole panel, resulting in entire solar panels being considered hazardous, Shellenberger noted in a Forbes article Wednesday.

Wait till they find out about the batteries for electric cars...lol
You mean something’s worse than CO2? Say it ain’t so!
Leftists never seem to take into consideration the Law of Unintended Consequences. That, or they just don’t care.
Wheres the free lunch?
How is that “paper or plastic” working for ya?
Chapter One: "Just do it! What harm could it do?"
Chapter Two: "How was I supposed to know?"
Lithium is an alkali metal, though not the most reactive.
They are by and large innumerate and completely incapable of second derivative thinking.
Well hell ... no problem. Just dispose of them in landfills with all the CFL light bulbs containing mercury. Whatever could possibly go wrong with all of this.
I was watching a German documentary piece around 2013, and they had a guy who laid out the massive problem coming up in ten to fifteen years as the older generation solar panels would have to be retired/replaced. All kinds of precautions would have to occur, and there was a cost to each activity. He figured the average home owner, who’d gone this direction and put ten panels up...would have to pay a minimum 1,500 Euro (roughly 2k dollars) as a disposal fee.
Natural gas and hydro and coal will always be the winners.
Nuclear?? Another disposal nightmare.
I say return the metals to the moon from ehich they came.
What? surely not. Those toxic metals were extracted from the earth? Are there others still there? are we all gonna die?
We recycle, all of our animas are rescues & be foundling/ no breeders, we try not to waste things, BUT.........these people are just spending their time finding new things to chicken Little over. Have at it.......the rest of us will be enjoying life!
Animals
One foundling....geez
Store them in Yucca Mountain. Oh, wait!
Just imagine all those toxins on the roof of your home if its lined with solar panels. Wonder what the air is like in the house on hot days when you open windows and the air comes in or when it rains and the panels get washed and drip.
Lefties got their way making solar panels mandatory in some new California buildings, now they’re worried about solar panels being “safe”? Oopsie!
