Sorry, but that simply is not true. Half the Navy's aircraft are not air worthy and the DDG’s can't go to sea without running into lumbering cargo ships. Over a third of the carriers are down for maintenance. Good news is that the number at sea is up from two years ago. Cruisers are being retired and staffing levels are critical in most classifications. It will take decades to undo )’s impact on the Navy.

A single DDG today is more capable of sea control than an entire battle group when I was in...in the 80s.
