. Saying that he’s an alcoholic and that he wants to focus on his recovery, Virginia Rep. Tom Garrett announced Monday he will not run for re-election in November.
Garrett, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, first told the Washington Post of his decision.
The freshman Republican’s announcement came five days after a bizarre news conference in which he insisted he’d be coming back to Congress in 2019.

I can't help but wonder if this is a preemptive measure of some sort. What shoe is about to drop on Congressman Garrett?
Still sounds like a setup. He had told people he was running a week ago and the media already had enabling sources leaking information about his dog care and dry cleaning to them? Virginia GOP better have a nominee ready to step in.

Be interesting to see if any other freedom caucus members drop out. Of course, they wouldn’t ALL have to leave. Just enough to skew the numbers. I hope that’s not what this is about.

Since he did not say he wants to spend more time with his family I believe him. But realistically it could also mean the real reason is even worse.
