Why I Joined the NRA After Writing Gun Control Articles
dailycaller.com ^ | 5/30/2018 | H. A. Goodman

Years back, I was a staunch gun control advocate. Last week, I joined the NRA and the Gun Owners of America, and I’m looking to join more Second Amendment advocacy groups. How did this evolution take place?

In 2014, I wrote articles for “The Huffington Post” titled “If ISIS Had Committed the 11 School Shootings Since Sandy Hook, Congress Would Have Declared War” and “What Gun Advocates Should Remember: You’ll Never Overthrow The Government and It Isn’t Scared of You.“

Rebuttals from numerous publications resulted from the latter piece, especially since it highlighted my disdain (at the time) for gun owners. “The American Conservative” published a 2017 piece by Grayson Quay titled “The Left Has the Stronger Case for Gun Ownership,” explaining my tunnel vision:

“The article, written by H. A. Goodman, contains some truly puzzling arguments about how the failure of the Whisky Rebellion proves the impossibility of a successful uprising … Since he never mentions it, I can only assume Mr. Goodman hasn’t heard of the successful American Revolution, which just a few years earlier had succeeded in throwing off British rule and establishing the very nation against which the Whisky rebels revolted.”

Interestingly, it took me until 2018 to realize that Mr. Quay was correct about the benefits of an armed populace.

Thanks for joining the "right" side of the issue.

Lots of liberals become conservatives.

Very few conservatives become liberals.

That’s why they have to use the tools of cult discipline to keep their believers in line.

H. A. is worth following on YouTube. What some might not know is that there’s a big contingent of Bernie supporters who have sort of defended Trump; at least they don’t just condemn him and constantly try to destroy him.

Thanks for posting. I had noticed H. A.’s new 2A channel. I think we should encourage him.

His “breaking news” is sometimes months before the fact; and I suppose once in a while it’s just wrong. He has treated it as a done deal for more than a year that Hillary will be indicted.

It’s often a matter of perspective, of honestly seeing what oxen are gored by a particular course of action.

I wouldn’t be nearly so much interested in a second try at a Whisky Rebellion than in expecting the government to fill in every single armed security need. That’s where the second shoe drops. Would it were that the madman coming intent on murder to Sandy Hook had met bearers of private arms!

... I wrote articles for “The Huffington Post” titled “If ISIS Had Committed the 11 School Shootings Since Sandy Hook, Congress Would Have Declared War...

Against whom? The millennial generation responsible for every single one of them?
Including Sandy Hook.
It’s not the guns.
This is a millennial Generation phenomona.

One only needs to look at England and Europe to see how and why our American 2nd Amendment rights are so important.

History DOES repeat itself.

Well if ISIS did it, there’d be a military action, but again we know ISIS is malicious. I don’t see NRA chanting “Death To America” at its meetings. Not even to looie-left America.

I am always confused by people that think civil war means shooting it out with Federal SWAT Teams. That’s ridiculous. You shoot it out with the people that voted to send the SWAT Teams and eventually the SWAT Teams have no reason to run around harassing people and they go home.

A ridiculous Walter Mitty fantasy. You think that wouldn’t meet with a furious united backlash from center-anything leftward?

The real issue is the prevention of the formation of a government dominated power vacuum in far more mundane crime control. Now, the government really can mess around with you, using the criminals as leverage.

The Holocaust could and did meet pockets of resistance prior to Allied warfare, and yet in the main it is a stark lesson in the power of literal hell in the face of godlessness. What a gaggle of knees bowed to Baal did required an awesome amount of armaments to undo at horrendous cost. What could save an America gone south like that? I don’t know. A lot of people would flee.

Bad men will always have guns regardless of the laws. Only good men and women with guns can stop them in the immediacy of killing.

Through the history of Western Civilization governments of Tyranny always confiscated the knife, the sword, the gun. Tyranny fears an armed populace as they should.

German Jews as loyal citizens of Germany in most part turned in their weapons to the Third Reich. They were slaughtered. Oddly during the first World War, German Jews served in the military at a higher percentage than other German citizens.

The real hell of it is as loyal Germans they would have built the atomic bomb for Germany if they were not prosecuted by the Third Reich. They were Germans first and Jews second. Our atomic bomb project in WWII was mostly German and East European Jews at the heart of the program. They had fled Germany and Eastern Europe and built the bomb for us.

Karma

Very few conservatives become liberals.

Those that do all seem to be in the media.
