Hey, what the Hell? Let the school feed the entire city -- kids and adults -- on the taxpayer's dime. Somehow we can shoehorn that into being "for the children" and everyone will be OK with it.
I always wonder, what about the childhood obesity epidemic?

We have tremendous food insecure households and a childhood obesity epidemic at the same time, wow.
Exactly. I drove a 20 year old car, was chosen for my kid to receive free meals because last name looks somewhat Hispanic, we’re not eligible though so turned it down. Every morning I saw parents coming out of the free breakfast cafeteria, heading to MUCH NICER CARS THAN MINE, with handfuls of pastries and yogurts they took from their kid’s breakfast tray to enjoy on their own. (They allowed parents to sit with their kids at breakfast in there.)
What do these ‘food insecure ‘ parents doing with their EBT? There was a lady who could put me and Mrs D together and we would weigh less then this lady in line in front of me. 100% Junk food and paid for it in her EBT. Oh, she was in a motorized scooter... The car she drove was a 2 year old Honda mini van eith $100 each rims... Amazing...

You have a lot more patience than I do, I probably would have opened my big yap.
You have pride and can hold your head high——my mother was widowed in 1938,with a 5 year old and a 2 year old-——never took a dime from anyone,except occasional help from her sisters who always bought our back-to-school clothes and our Easter outfits.
She lived until she was 91.

I’m so old I remember when schools were responsible for educating the students and the parents were responsible for feeding them. Oh well, our society has devolved to the point where we accept a half-a$$ education and crappy food engineered from byproducts as a normal way of life.
If you have an IQ > 80 then you should know the difference between a real education and daycare, real food and byproducts used for animal feed, or when free ain’t really free.
Dig in dumb-a$$es. All you can eat or steal and it’s FREE!
Uh there's an old saying about free lunches, but I can't quite remember it.
This is nothing! New Braunfels area district offer FREE breakfasts and lunches, ALL SUMMER, for kids and ADULTS!!
I remember seeing the billboards for it, either last or summer before last.
Unreal!!
