Remember all the comparisons between Donald Trump and Hitler? Well, that already got old about a year ago. The latest shtick among those unable to deal with the 2016 election results is to compare Trump to William Shakespeare's tyrants in his plays.

The author introducing this latest example of Trump Derangement Syndrome is Stephen Greenblatt who wrote a book of such comparisons called Tyrant. In the Los Angeles Times, reviewer Charles McNulty knows this book's audience:

Greenblatt’s “Will In The World” was pretty good biography. I think he would have been wiser to have left it there.

Several plays in London in spring and summer
Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband (political corruption)
Imperium - Rome sliding down into dictatorship
Salome - the “warped cycles of masculinity” made her do it
Pity - the “mess of today’s society”
Jungle - life in a Moslem refugee camp
Chess - an American chess player Eric Trumper versus a noble yet philandering Russian chess player (I saw this)

No wonder the most popular plays are happy musicals!

“Coming next: Anti-Trump cookbooks.”

At least one recipe should come from “Titus Andronicus.”

My late father always referred to Hillary as Lady Macbeth.
