UK government directing YouTube to censor Tommy Robinson videos
@nickmon1112 Twitter thread ^ | June 4, 2018 | Nick Monroe

I dunno how much clearer I can make this.

March 12th 2018. UK government (Home Affairs Select Committee) talks to YouTube representative about censoring Tommy Robinson from YouTube.

...

The second part really picks up. The Home Affairs Select Committee is yelling at this YouTube representative, saying the website needs to censor Tommy Robinson because the Finsbury Park attacker was apparently "radicalized" by Tommy's videos.

This is an example of how social media work with governments to censor what governments don't like, and therefore why governments should not be able to end-run the First Amendment by "privatizing" censorship.

The thread also includes a link to Nick's compilation of #FreeTommy videos by various YouTubers.

Robinson’s really a bee in their bonnet. They’ve got their knickers in a twist.

Government and business colluding to suppress and oppress the people is the very definition of fascism.

Maybe its time to get out the Liberty Caps, torches and pitchforks! Time for Government to fear the people again!

Yet another example of why Americans maintain our Second Amendment freedoms. Absent the means to kill the occasional tyrant we’d have to put up with the same tyranny that the Brits put up with every single day.

What authority would the British govt have over a company homebased in California, USA?

A FREE company would tell them to keep their fascism on the other side of the pond.....but we are talking about YouTube here.....

Pres. Trump should order a travel advisory issued against UK, stating that it is now an unfree society and Americans visiting there may be subject to arrest for expressing opposition to policies of the British government.

He should then tell Theresa May to pound sand. Publicly.

Remember, the gov’t in the UK is officially Tory or conservative. That party needs to be dissolved. They are farther from their founding principles than the Republican party.

Thank you. A point I have made often. Private companies censoring things are just proxies for government censoring things. When enough government pressure is put on a private company, it becomes a tool of the government.

The Second Amendment is the MOST important Amendment. The First is just about shredded.

They don’t have a first or second amendment in Great Britain.
