Trump slams attorney general: 'Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion'
The Washington Times ^ | 5 June 2018 | Alex Swoyer

President Trump took another dig at Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Tuesday for not telling him about the recusal from the Russian investigation, saying he would have picked someone else to head the Justice Department.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with his attorney general for not overseeing the probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Mr. Sessions, citing ethics rules, recused himself shortly after becoming attorney general since he had been part of the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.

“The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn’t tell me he was going to recuse himself…I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined…and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion!” Mr. Trumptweeted Tuesday.

This is truly put up or shut up time for Sessions. After the release of this IG report, if he and Rosenstein don’t immediately issue indictments and start criminal proceedings, they both need to be fired on the spot.

Trump should do it and let the chips fall where they lay. I actually don’t believe the damage to him will be as bad as some would say. Certainly not worse than it already is.

I once considered Sessions the quintessential Sluthern gentleman.

I thought he possessed the qualities of dignity, decency, kindness and
patriotism that the noble south has long been known for.

How wrong I was. The man is a disgrace. He is a cuckold

He is not doing much but squat on the immigration front either. What the hell is he doing, designing new DARE posters??

Can’t DJT just appoint an interim AG? (And DAG?)

Yes, he can. Seems he wants Sessions to resign on his own though.

I’d LOVE to know the insider details about Sessions appointment.

I’ve said before, the DOJ is the political brain and nerve center of Fed.gov. Any President needs an absolute loyalist in there. Kennedy appointed his brother. Clinton had his pitfall Reno. Obama did it right - he had true fellow travelers as his AG. Hell, he even made sure they were both black.

What was Trump thinking with Sessions??

“Trump should do it and let the chips fall where they lay.”

I agree, but I think President Trump will wait until after the midterm elections.
I believe the republicans will hold onto both houses of Congress.

Sessions and Rosenstein will be gone. And anyone else he wants out the door.
More evidence will come out to vindicate Trump.

He will never have a presidential honeymoon, but he gets a startover.

I can’t believe the Cuckold we see as AG today was always the same man. He was always so wise on the Senate floor.

He’s either being blackmailed/threatened or has been bought. I cannot think of any other reason for the pathetic performance of his tenure at AG

“Sessions is working behind the scenes, low-key, and is playing 3-D chess. Trump is just playing along, criticizing Sessions, but it’s all part of a grand strategy to take down the Deep State”.

I’ve seen and heard different variations of the above. I’d like to believe it but, like many others, I’m skeptical.

I think people in the FBI and CIA are going to flip! Once the IG report comes out it’s going to embarrass Sessions bigly, and Rosenstein is going down. I now think Trump knows how all intertwined the deep state is and Sessions and Rosenstein will be fired forthwith!

So what prevents him from sacking Sessions?

I have not heard anyone that counts say he is doing a good job at DOJ.

Sessions was in the Senate too long. They get a huge taxpayer-funded staff that bows and scrapes to them all day long. They get to clack their jaws and vote—99x out of 100 meaningless votes, since their lone vote is buried by 99 others. Any executive ability they may have had atrophies fast.

When Sessions got to the DOJ he couldn’t wait to delegate all the important decisions to Rosenstein. Jeff wanted the title of AG along with the comfort of being able to continue to act like a pampered Senator. Iow, he stabbed Trump in the back for petty, selfish reasons.

The Kabuki theory doesn't add up. Sure it makes Sessions look "independent" for now. But in the long run, it would make Sessions look like somebody who ultimately buckled to the president's pressure and who went against his own sworn recusal. Add to that, it would make Trump look like somebody who was out to get his political opponents.

You need to A, contact Grassley, and ask if he’s changed his mind about NEVER confirming a Sessions replacement, and B, contact your senators and ask [if they’re GOP] why they’re either publicly supporting Sessions over Trump, or acting like they’ve lost the power of speech [on just this one issue].

Has anyone considered the possibility that Sessions was one of the informants?
