Democrats' new 2018 strategy targeting Trump's 'culture of corruption' is a missed opportunity
NBC "News" ^ | June 5, 2018 | by Dean Obeidallah

Democratic leaders recently rolled out a new theme they hope will prove successful this November: President Donald Trump’s "culture of corruption." As Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer put it when announcing the new strategy in May, “The swamp has never been more foul or more feted than under this president.” Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in the House, added: “Instead of delivering on his promise to drain the swamp, President Trump has become the swamp."

It’s a pretty good strategy. With Democrats hoping to take the House back and maybe even the Senate, a progressive national platform in 2018 that champions things like Medicare for all and free college may not play as well in the more centrist or red-leaning states and congressional districts Democrats need to win. And hammering Trump’s “culture of corruption” could be an effective way to remind the public of the many, many scandals that have broken this year - from alleged Russian collusion to Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen reportedly selling access to Trump for big bucks to congressional Democrats’ claims that Trump is personally profiting from being president.

Democrats must find a way to inspire voters who don’t usually vote. If the majority of Americans believe hatred is a real and pressing problem, rhetoric that appeals to this belief could resonate across partisan borders.

Framing the November election as a referendum on Trump’s corruption isn’t a bad strategy necessarily, but it does seem to be a missed opportunity. Making this election about something as personal as combatting hate is better politics, and it’s ultimately better for America.

When your party is the poster child for poltical corruption, high lighting corruption is not a “pretty good strategy”.

Better check your own polling Fake News. Outside the die hard Democrat base and it Fake News media propagada bots, 60+% of American agree with Trump that all this has been nothing but politically manufactured hype and hysterics.

“It’s a pretty good strategy.”

It’s the same old strategy: accuse others of what you do.

>>>from alleged Russian collusion to Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen reportedly selling access to Trump for big bucks to congressional Democrats’ claims that Trump is personally profiting from being president<<<

“Alleged”, “Reportedly”, Democrat’s “claims” that Trump is personally profiting from being president<<<
.......

I’ve read that POTUS Trump has lost about $800,000,000 in the value of his Personal Assets since he started his quest for the Presidency. The Democrats have been going all out to ruin him Financially, Personally and Politically.

They Pray for him to be Assassinated and they are doing everything they can do to push one of their Sycophants to make it happen. Of that I have no doubt.

Heck, they wish the same for us Deplorable types.

‘Feted’ is surprisingly apt though the word intended was plainly ‘fetid’ ...

Is the DNC so out of ideas that they’re rehashing their 2006 midterm platform?

Notice that forming their BELIEF is the key, not revealing ACTUAL "hatred" to oppose.

This morning a guy was riding his bike in front of my house. He had on a very stylish spandex multicolor bike suit with a cute matching cap with the brim bent up. Bike looked expensive.

Then he was passed by a minivan with the windows down and he shouted, "you're burning oil, ASSHOLE"!

I have no doubt he is/was an Obama/Hillary voter given the neighborhood and his get up. Betcha he even has one of the "Love" signs in his yard that are code for I Voted for Obama and Hillary.

Even though he wears "love" on his sleeve there is obviously none in his heart. I'm sure it never occurred to him that family might not have been able to afford a more recent model van or to repair this one. Or that on a day with temps hitting the 90's they couldn't run the air conditioning? "Love." Yeah, right.
