A high-ranking CrossFit employee was fired after tweeting his support for a CrossFit gym’s cancellation of a Pride event, citing his belief that celebrating LGBT pride is a “sin.”
Russell Berger was the mega-successful fitness company’s chief knowledge officer, often de facto spokesperson, and a co-author of the Russells, a blog about scientific misconduct that he maintained with colleague Russell Greene.
"As someone who personally believes celebrating 'pride' is a sin, I'd like to personally encourage #CrossFitInfiltrate for standing by their convictions and refusing to host an @indypride workout,” Berger wrote. “The intolerance of the LGBTQ ideology toward any alternative views is mind-blowing.”
At first, Berger was placed on an unpaid leave of absence. But later on Wednesday, CrossFit announced on Twitter that he had been fired.

People who take pride in how they misuse their private parts and try to force others to celebrate it are mentally ill.

Time to avoid gyms that implement it and cancel some local government uses of it. It’s only a more heavily marketed, combined mess of previously existing exercises anyway, and it’s been killing a lot of people weren’t already extremely physically fit (injuries and rhabdomyolysis).
Well whaddya expect? In this day and age, saying LGBT pride should not be celebrated on alternate Thursdays would be enough to get a person fired.
I know MY gym owner, I just didn’t ever see it as something that needed to have a corporate structure. To me, Crossfit is like Karate or running or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. All of those have international governing bodies, sure, but AN ACTUAL CORPORATE STRUCTURE? Seems ridiculous. Especially for people like this who both own a gym and have another job, being a pastor in his case. I just like doing WoDs and working out with my friends. I don’t think any of it needs to have anything to do with the gay lifestyle or politics in general.

It’s a franchise. I know someone who had one that got tired of paying the franchise fee every year and just branched out on his own.
