Spain laid claim to the Island of Jamaica from the time Columbus landed there in 1494. In 1503, Columbus was shipwrecked there for a year. In 1655, Jamaica was captured by British Admiral William Penn, the father of Pennsylvania’s founder.
Jamaica was too far from England to defend, so the inhabitants turned to privateers, freebooters, buccaneers and pirates for protection. The likes of Blackbeard, Calico Jack and Captain Henry Morgan, namesake of the rum, attacked Spanish ships and settlements, then returned to Jamaica with their booty.
The skull pirate flag, called the “Jolly Roger,” was adapted from the flag of the Muslim Barbary pirates who raided ships and beheaded with their scimitar swords. In 1625, Muslim corsairs flew the skull flag when they raided Cornwall to take English as slaves.

The problem has been Islam all along. It is time we all openly acknowledged that fact. The left’s idea of the “oppressed minority” along with the made-up term: “Islamophobia”, is what Islam will use to get a foothold. This is BS. We know there are billions of them. They are no minority. Islam needs to be purged from society.

I always thought Barbados was the historic pirate island of that time.
Following the destruction of Port Royal, Nassau in the Bahamas was the stronghold of pirates. In the early 1700s.

During the mid 1800’s we burned down the town pirates were using in the Falkland Islands to prey on Clipper ships going round the cape heading for California. We hung some and the rest were dropped off in Argentina. The viceroy of Argentina offered those islands to US but we refused so the Brits took it over.
