New California Law May Punish Pastors for Helping Others Leave Homosexuality
The New American ^ | 07 June 2018 | Selwyn Duke

Posted on 06/07/2018 2:26:10 PM PDT by detective

Could California pastors be charged with a crime for using Christian doctrine to help someone leave homosexuality? This could be the case if a new Golden State bill, AB 2943, becomes law. Making matters worse, some critics claim it could even be used to impede sales of the Bible.

California, 11 other states, and D.C. already ban “reparative therapy” — which seeks to eliminate unwanted same-sex attraction or feelings of “gender” identity — for minors. The new bill, however, applies to adults as well and would prohibit not just therapists but anyone from offering such aid. It’s gold-plated hypocrisy: The same people who allow a physician to help a person “change his sex” (not actually possible), a quality certainly inborn, want to make it a crime to help someone change his sexual feelings — in the thinking that they’re inborn.

Yet AB 2943 goes further still and prohibits efforts to change even behavior. As National Review’s David French explains, if, for example, “a sexually active gay man or woman sought counseling not to change their orientation but rather to become celibate, then the services and goods provided in that effort would violate this statute.”

Did we not just have a case in front of SCOTUS stating religious freedom should not be attacked, or ignored?

CA has long gone past being nutty, it has become a laughing stock.

Just do it for God’s sake anyhow. Don’t call it a therapy, don’t call it psychology. Call it a frank spiritual deliverance ministry. Get all the prayers possible. Publicize it boldly. And then if Caesar dares to try to poop in that punchbowl, that’s when more steps need to be taken. However, with Masterpiece, the Christian legal case was strengthened. The state can go “awwwwww” all it wants about LGBT and related sinning and it still has no power to tell Christianity what it is.

Do it. Just do it. Like Nike.

TO BE FAIR, I believe the churches have also gotten nearsighted.

Homosexuality and some related perversions cluster around, and empower and are empowered by, a set of other antisocial vices. Romans 1 tells some things about that, from an external point of view. Christian ministry can get at it from the inside, however. It really should throw the whole worm can’s contents out in the table in broad daylight, using utterly spiritual terms. It doesn’t need to utter a word about “therapy” or “psychology.”

Religious Freedom, yes, but perhaps more effectively it should be seen as an violation of Equal Protection.

After all, I’m sure they don’t plan on prosecuting someone thinking of becoming Gay after a lifetime of being Straight, and and is seeking counseling about that!

In the near future, homosexuality will become mandatory in California and the practice will be part of the public school curricula.

It’s a brave new world.

They encourage homosexual behavior and punish heterosexual behavior.

Isn’t there some kind of law about not discriminating based on gender or sexual preference?

Then why are they favoring one over the other.

What if the person WANTS to leave the homosexual lifestyle?

It happens, even though it seems to be beyond their comprehension.

Well, I hope to pass on the hope that every believer gets through trusting on Christ. And I don’t care about the shingle on the door of the congregation(s) where that believer goes, if the right Person is in there.

I think the Lion of Judah has been taken for a pussycat for so long, that all we think He can do is meow. Or that, maybe worse, He needs worldly ideas, however well meant. A spiritual ministry doesn’t necessarily pop up overnight; it has to grow into place.

But yes. We don’t have to lie down for this madness. Not even now. Will opposing it in godly ways occasion us some grief? Why, yes it will. Satan will not release his prey easily or gladly. And on hearing the stories of some people who have been living in sin, we will find reason to weep along with their grievous experiences.

But will it bring goodness? Oh yes, yes, yes it will. And here is where the best in every church congregation having the Lord can be brought to bear. Not every one concentrates on the exact same things. But it is a panoply of virtues the Lord brings to bear, not just one or two.

Back in the 1990s, Bob Hope joked that after homosexuality had been first decriminalized, and later legalized in California, he was moving out before it became mandatory. He didn't live long enough to see the suppression of anti-homosexual counseling. Perhaps just as well, as Bob Hope could not tell jokes in today's environment, much less the likes of Richard Pryor or George Carlin.

I could see a serious effort to “open source” the associated spiritual deliverance ministry. Even get it up on the web. It’s no secret what God can do, as the old song went. It will need a heaven of a lot of spiritual coverage to announce it, however. The church collective hasn’t been used to a crusade, if it can be called that, like this for ages. Something more powerful even than what has been mustered in the face of abortion will be needed.

But oh, it is so worth it. When souls are washed in the blood of Christ, new people will emerge from the old and will shout in victory. It is so worth it.

Bob saw what this thing was bidding to do.

Oh no, it can’t just be par... it must be master.

Fitting that it ran into a wall with a company called “Masterpiece.” The Master won’t brook that evil master. However, who’s going to stand up in the power of the Master?

We should not even invade its airspace.
