This woman didn't get pregnant because she is less educated she is less educated because she got pregnant. She slept with a guy when she was a freshman in college, got preggers and proceeded to do it twice more. This is not a problem we are going to solve with free college or by making Uncle Sugar the surrogate father in this household. It is not even a problem caused by income inequality. The income inequality is the result of bad choices and laws that allow parents, fathers specifically to evade their financial and parental responsibilities. You cannot save people from their own stupidity when as a society you have decided to not socially stigmatize this woman's behavior.

I don’t have to click a NY Slimes link to know that married women are much better off then single women.

Has the NY Slimes come down on the side of responsible “Ward & June Cleaver” lifestyles?

Did you miss all the tripe about "inequality?"

Apparently, the New York Times is down to hiring idiot writers who get offended that dogs don't go "meow" like a proper cat does.

My sentiments exactly!

What makes the writer think all the WOMEN out there are “marriageable.”

70% of divorces are initiated by women. 93% result in alimony to the woman.

I foresee a government program to provide husbands for single mothers. It just needs a catchy acronym.

You would think that women would be making a push for a resurgence of polygamy to stabilize these families, but as there isn't it would seem all these single moms would rather raise their children in a hovel than face the fact they aren't worth what they're asking for as wives, and are unwilling to make the historical compromises reflecting that lack of value.

As my Daddy put it, many if not most young men are unwilling to buy a cow if they get their milk for free.

Nonsense. They're perfectly willing to "buy the cow" if it's worth buying.

A few sips of milk does NOT close the deal these days.

What laws would those be? I'm not familiar with them...and neither are you.

Obviously it’s better to be a married parent than a single parent. But no woman with any pride whatsoever would even consider polygamy.

Better to be just scraping by than to be a horny, selfish man’s sex and economic slave.

"She got pregnant during her first year of college, left school and stayed in a troubled relationship that left her with three children when it finally collapsed six years ago."

She got pregnant.

Relationship left her with 3 children.

So was she raped? I suspect not. Then she didn't 'get' pregnant, and she wasn't 'left' with 3 kids.

She consensually screwed the men without protection for her own immediate sexual or emotional gratification, which by the way leads to pregnancy.

I fail to understand the use of passive voice.

Except that I do understand it ... it's propaganda.

Despite millennia of successful historical precedent, that is EXACTLY the chauvinistic, misandrist attitude to which I was referring. But of course if that attitude weren't so ubiquitous, there'd be no reason to imagine Pre-Christian marital constructs.

Penury suits vacuous conceit.

Well, she could have given up her baby for adoption, then college, marriage, and children in that order.

Well, yes, but why should anyone experience consequences? Democrats and socialists promise an end to repercussions from our actions.

The moral of the story is get married and then have children.

Then, keeping in mind that you both made a vow and that a healthy marriage requires work, work to stay married. :-)

Yep.

While it is work there is really no big secret, just treat your spouse with the care and courtesy you would someone important to your life that you just met.

I cringe when I hear someone brag that they don't listen to their spouse or that they routinely disregard what they ask. They then act surprised when their marriage falls apart.

Really? Being treated with contempt makes people not want to stay with you? Who knew!

Just being kind to your spouse makes up for a multitude of failings.

First of all, I’m not a misandrist. Far from it. I strongly support men’s rights. But I don’t support a man’s “right” to abuse women through “polygamy”. And that is exactly what polygamy is: abuse.

There are two main advantages of polygamy for men: More than one woman to have sex with and the fact that the man is economically supported by the “wives”. He can sit on his ass all day while his wives go to work and do all the housework and yardwork. The so-called “husband” is responsible for absolutely nothing.

I dare you to cite any advantages of polygamy for women. The women are responsible for financially supporting the husband, taking care of the home and kids and sexually satisfying the “husband”. Sign me up! (Sarcasm)

So called “Christian” polygamy is even worse than muslim polygamy. At least, in islamic polygamy, each wife gets their own home and never has to see the other women.

OTOH, in “Christian” polygamy, the husband selfishly and cruelly expects the wives to live in the same home.

Do you actually believe that the women wouldn’t HATE each others guts? Do you believe that the wives wouldn’t get insanely, violently jealous as they watch their husband go to bed with another woman?

Newsflash: Women get very jealous and only a desperate woman with no self esteem would tolerate her husband sleeping with another woman, especially under her own roof. That is cruelty beyond measure.

Since you’re such a proponent for polygamy, what are your views on polyandry? If men can have harems, so can women. Correct? What’s the difference?

Your chauvinism and misogyny is showing. Only a devoted misogynist would advocate for polygamy.
