This kind of data should NEVER be on a system with ANY connection to the internet.

We should stop spending money on weapons research and just steal it from other countries for a change. So much cheaper.

I remember a few years back the Russians started manufacturing type writers again. All sensitive material was to be typed and hand delivered. They had jets standing by for delivering them if need be.

The ChiComs and Russians must laugh at our insane stupidity. They hack us and what do we do? Not much. Same thing over and over.

Oh, my gosh. Supersonic torpedoes, what WILL they
think up next?

Hint: Look up “LOKI” at DARPA.

They spent millions on it several years ago.
It’s either working now or conveniently forgotten.

This is ridiculous that someone would be so stupid and careless. And cell phones should not be allowed in areas where the info is or where people are discussing the info.

Chinese government hackers have compromised the computers of a Navy contractor, stealing massive amounts of highly sensitive data related to undersea warfare...

When will the US learn that there are some secrets that should not be on computers tied into the internet? Everything doesn't have to be accessible from everywhere. Maybe the folks who have a need to work with such data daily should report to work where the data is stored and work there.

And data can be transmitted to other areas where needed, and then stored on off line computers. Everything does not have to be online.

In all likelihood, this is not accidental. Classified systems are physically separated by a manual switch and only one can be active at any time. NIPR is not connected to SIPR and neither are connected to JWICS. In order for the hacker to get secret information would be for the target to intentionally input it into the unclass system that was compromised.

these are the same Ruskies who use pencils in space rather than the multi million spent on engineering pens that work with zero gravity.

Who cares? What we really need to know is if Trump peed on a Russian bed. Yeah, that’s important to national security!

For the ever-lovin' life of me I will never understand why they do this with this highly secretive national defense stuff.

Just why? They know the Chi-coms, the Russians, and everyone else is trying hack us 24/7. I just don't understand. And this breech sounds very bad. We are leap years ahead of everyone in underwater warfare, and now inside 5 years the Chicoms will be close to parity on this front. Very bad.

If anyone secretly attaches a USB drive to an NMCI, let alone a SIPR connected system, a security alarm is supposed to go off with Marines enroute, arms bared.

Of course.....China's data breakers are plentiful and determined. China will

'steal' anything and everything it can. Smiling innocently as it does.

These contractors are the rat hole which sucks up billions of dollars to defend our country.

They can't even defend their computers. What's wrong with this picture?
