The Bigger Story Behind the James Wolfe Indictment…

It is important not to get so granular we miss the big picture. The indictment of former senior senate intelligence committee staffer James Wolfe is filled with information to highlight a much bigger picture. [Indictment pdf here]

Keeping with custom and a very familiar pattern, you will note the big DOJ/FBI investigative releases are timed to drop when President Trump is outside Washington DC.

Note also, it was the Senate Intelligence Committee where Wolfe worked. CTH has continually stated the SSCI is one of the most corrupt committees in congress. It did not come as a surprise to see the staff from this specific committee leaking secret and top-secret classified information. The committee rots from the head down.

People have been being flipped, search warrants have been executed, and suspects have been under surveillance, for over six months - on just this one leak investigation.

Reportedly, there were 26 leaks being investigated.

And there are all the referrals made by Congress to the DOJ, everything that DoJ or FBI may have initiated on their own, at the direction of the White House, or from the DoJ IG.

It now seems likely that professional investigations have been underway in earnest, the whole time.

Who is Watkins, and why are authorities interested in her?...
Watkins, who interned at the Philadelphia Daily News in spring 2013, started a personal relationship with Wolfe sometime around December 2013 when she was a Temple intern working with the McLatchy-Tribune news service, according to a federal indictment. The relationship continued after she graduated in 2014 until last December, when she joined the Times, the indictment said. Before joining the Times, Watkins had also worked at the Huffington Post, BuzzFeed and Politico...

Its indictment, which identifies Watkins as Reporter #2, says she published dozens of news articles about the committee and its activities, and that she and Wolfe ***“exchanged tens of thousands of electronic communications, often, including daily texts and phone calls.” The two, the indictment added, frequently met in person, including at restaurants and her apartment...

The Times said Watkins told the newspaper about the relationship when it hired her. She also had disclosed the relationship to BuzzFeed and Politico editors...

I think the key is that Wolfe opened the door for these outlets, and all their reporters to be surveiled.

Not that it puts any of the media outletsor reporters in jeopardy, it does not.

But all the OTHER leakers to them are busted. Those folks have no 1st Amendment protection.

These reporters and their media employers are in no jeopardy whatsoever. They are protected by the First Amendment and multiple USSC decisions.

But they were under surveillance. Therefore, every leaker to them is now busted. And those leakers have no protection whatsoever.
