Bill W., Founder of AA, was basically at the end of ropes when he contacted Dr. Carl Jung. After working together for a while Dr. Jung told him there was nothing he could do.
Bill W. was devastated. He asked “Is there no hope?”
Dr. Jung replied replied “There is. You’re going to have to have some kind of spiritual experience. Find a higher power”
Dr. Carl Jung had come to believe the alcoholic’s problem was more than just an addiction. It’s more than in his brain. It’s in his whole spiritual bieng.
Bill W. had a that spiritual experience when one night while in the hospital he cried out “If there is a God let Him show himself!”. He said the room lit up with a great light “and a wind, not of air, but of spirit blew through.”
