Graham: I'm 'not so sure' McCain is right that a majority of Americans back free trade

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) took a jab at Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday, saying he was "not so sure" about McCain's remarks on Saturday that a majority of Americans favor free trade.

"I'm not so sure John's right about where America is on trade," Graham told ABC's George Stephanopoulos on "This Week."

"The [Sen.] Bernie Sanders [I-Vt.] element of the Democratic Party doesn't stand for free trade. Hillary Clinton said she would get out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership if she had become president. There is a movement in our party that Trump's seized that got him the nomination, and eventually became president of the United States," Graham continued. "So I'm not so sure a majority of Americans believe that globalization and free trade is in our interests," he continued.

The "free trade" masquerade is over, Juan. Luckily you won't have to learn to live with it for long.

“free trade” == I’m not sure it means what they think it means.

McCain is dying.

Graham wants to keep his job.

He is a globalist like Juan, but recognizes that we aren’t buying it anymore.

Know what...folks.....very few Americans could care less what John McCain has to say. Sad to say when the Lord passes him on to “Satan and Hell forever”, not many Americans will miss him, one iota!!! He and Obama will burn forever in SATAN’s inferno!!!

A clear case of definitional issues precluding a real discussion.

Yup. But he is a Republican willing to oppose Trump (at every turn), so the MSM will slavishly bill it as a “story”. The vast majority of Americans agree with Trump: the rest of the world has ripped us off for too long. During the Cold War, it made some sense as a way of bolstering weaker allies — but not now.

While Graham is buddies with McCain, he is smarter and occasionally gets it. He also tries to straddle both sides of the fence. You can almost say Lindsay wants to been seen as going both ways. [Though I suspect it only one way]

Neither McVain nor Linda Graham seem to know what free trade is.

Yesterday, President Trump said he was for elimination of all tariffs, which the others choked on. He and Americans are for free trade. That is not to say that tariffs are not one way to force free trade on our protectionist “allies”.

Assure that it is fully fair free trade and almost all will endorse it. The problem is that trade negotiators were influenced by the political considerations of the day that tended to put the US at a disadvantage. After all the US was wealthy and could afford to make the necessary sacrifices in the great cause of globalism. Of course it caused ordinary Americans to lose their jobs who bear the brunt of the sacrifices. Trump is evolving as their true champion by resisting the globalists.

Graham's comments come after McCain took to Twitter Saturday night to slam President Trump for his threat to slap new tariffs on Canada and his decision to pull his endorsement of a joint communique signed with other Group of Seven (G-7) members at this weekend's summit in Canada.

I doubt if John McCain 'took to Twitter Saturday night", or at any time recently.

The media fawns over him, but they have made no attempt to interview him in recent months. Even if he is unable to participate in a face to face discussion, if McCain is as lucid and engaged as he's being portrayed, they could still interview him over the phone or via skype. They haven't done that, however, because they know he's in no condition to do it. John McCain will be gone any time now.

That’s some progress. One lying traitor calling the other lying traitor’s comment into question. Like getting homo pedophiles to wear condoms so as not to transmit AIDS. Funny how that seemed to come to mind.

This is surely a test. It’s a challenge every day not to wish ill upon this traitor. I hope Keating 5 McCain hears the word “traitor” before he no longer troubles us. And I hope Cindy finds another gold-digging husband to spend her wealth and to pull the strings of her vapid mouth.

There’s never been “free trade”. It’s been “screw America trade”.

Graham is attracted to people with a strong idea of where they are going. He hitches his wagon to their star.

McCain is being overshadowed by Trump so Graham is following Trump now.

He is the kind of person who can be useful as a yes man or and echo.

Just understand that as soon as you hit any sort of problem he will jump ship.

only free and fair trade works, but folks get thrown off by the word ‘free’ as in what could be wrong with that? I’m “free” to pay $25 for a loaf of bread, but is that a fair trade for my $$$? Is it at all smart?
