The 4473 only registers point of retail sale. There is currently no requirement to report private resale of a weapon purchased where a 4473 had been filled out.

Yes, gungrabbers want 4473’s on all sales retail or private. But legally it still doesn’t state for record where a particular gun is kept because it simply is not a registration document. If confiscation squads (California) start knocking on doors using 4473’s then all bets are off because the whole system has gone rogue.

A phone call asking if one is in possession of a particular firearm will only be answered with “No, I sold it”.

IMHO the law is not likely to change. Guns kill at the polls.

Agreed that 4473 IS NOT a registration document, and current law prohibits 4473 FRom being used as such.

HST, IF/WHEN 4473s are put in a searchable data base, you can bet your ass that shortly thereafter anti-gun Nazis in Kali-Fornia, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Connecticut, (and other anti-gun Nazi states), will come looking for your guns.

I don’t think or believe the law will change, but “Eternal Vigilance is the price of Liberty!”

WHO would have access to this registration list?

Too much information is already out there.

“...anti-gun Nazis in Kali-Fornia, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Connecticut, (and other anti-gun Nazi states), will come looking for your guns.”

They and what Army? I’m serious and I say that as a former staff officer: confiscators require organization, manpower, logistics, funding sites, a mission statement defining friendly and hostile forces, and all kinds of stuff staged & in place before they go knocking on a single door.

And what makes antigun Nazis (good term BTW) so d@mned omnipotent and unstoppable!? They have to go home at night unless they’re SEALS, and their personal s*** can get blasted all over the internet to include their childrens’ names.

If they come looking for guns only because they THINK someone has them, then it’s Katy bar the door and shots will be fired. Obama’s not in power anymore and John Brennan is just one loudmouth on twitter. They don’t own us!

All I am saying is that we must be vigilant and not elect LIEberal assholes like “Howdy Doody” Nelson to ANY public office!

You know as well as I do that if they could, they would repeal the 2nd Amendment and confiscate every weapon in private (i.e., non-government) hands!

Eternal vigilance is the watchword!

I’m with you all the way, FRiend! “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty”.

But let’s remember that intentions require capabilities, which was the point of my earlier thread: has Dianne Feinstein or David Camera Hogg ever personally seen to the disarming of a single American citizen?

Now...real alert: keep your weather eye on these new GVRO laws in the blue states. These represent SWATing on steroids and there will be actual deaths as a result. The enemy front is now everywhere and all gun rights people are soldiers in this new war against liberty!

Our “eternal vigilance” measures MUST include ensuring that DiFI and the Piglet and the rest of the anti-gun Nazis NEVER gain the ability to disarm a single American citizen!

GVRO laws should be challenged in court; have you any intel on that subject?

You, sir, are talking to the Paul Revere of GVRO’s on FR. I am learning as much as I can about these insidious “Red Flag” laws passed in the wake of Parkland, and I encourage every FReeper to do likewise. Google those terms with “abuse” and see what comes up.

Currently the worst of these GVRO statutes is in California, surprise, surprise. Passed in 2016 it makes a mockery of due process such that the gun owner accused of acting strangely (by anyone with a grudge, not just immediate family) knows nothing of the process going on behind his back (to the police: “He threatened me, he has guns, I am afraid for my life”) from police report submitted to judge to issuance of GVRO to the police knocking on his door to seize his guns.

Again, due process & the right to confront one’s accuser before a judge are out the window. But even worse are the penalties for making false official statements to obtain a GVRO. That’s right, there are none, other than a mild misdemeanor charge even though making a false statement means making a false sworn statement which is perjury and a felony and means prison time. Lying to the police and lying to a judge are both chargeable as perjury. But not any more.

IIRC, seven blue states now have these laws which will be like SWATing on steroids. Calling in a false report that results in SWAT being sent normally means serious jail time, but the outcome in my opinion is that SWAT and GVRO are now folded into one another. After all, if a confiscation squad is sent to the front door, they will assume there is an angry if not unstable gun owner in the house and they will be armed to the teeth. Remember Boston after the bombing?

It’s all very dangerous. Gun confiscation that is politically impossible at the national level will now be accomplished one gun owner at a time.

And watch for the reemergence of 1-800-SNITCH hotlines where the caller can remain anonymous while denouncing his neighbor with an NRA sticker on his car.

Worried yet? I hope so. FRiend, please spread the word.

I’ll spread the word!

Have there been any court cases, yet?

Seems to me that there are multiple violations of the Constitution inherent in these laws?

Need some legal advice on this one, I think.

Court challenges are the logical next step. That pesky Constitution may get in the way of a lot of this Red Flag cr@p.

Videos of SWAT police proning civilians may follow too. Then the people will know who the enemy is.

Sure am glad I don’t live in Mexifornia.

I’ll be curious to see who picks up the cudgel on behalf of wronged gun owners?

There is not enough money in Christendom to get me to move back to Mexifornia - I left in 1994 and haven’t looked back!

Sure wish my children & their families would leave, though! Daughter is in Coronado, and son is in Hillsborough.

Ex-wife can stay!
