He was in the right place, presented himself as the right religion, was of the right color, and was of the right age for the inscriptions that were widespread by the Germans in the last couple years of the war.
Many of the younger German POW’s who were shipped to Camp Beale prison camp in California were very young and accepted the option of staying in the USA at the end of the war. They had no family or home to go back to. Those that I knew became outstanding hard working citizens and raised families here.
I ran into them via hunting buddies in the 70’s and spent several hours around camp fires and hunting camps listing to their histories.

He wasn’t enscripted into the German Army he was adopted into a NAZI family that was contracted to auction off Jewish properties. He made money off his fellow Jews while they were taken to the gas Chambers. Years later he was asked if he regretted his part. He said in contrary it was the best time of his life!
His life continues to be making wealth through the misery he creates in others.
