Man Claims He Was Asked to Leave Restaurant for Wearing Large Cross

A restaurant based in Indianapolis, Indiana, allegedly asked one of its customers to leave for wearing a necklace containing a large cross.

Jerry Bond, who patronized Kilroy’s Bar N’ Grill with his minister and a few friends, claims a bouncer asked him to remove his cross necklace or leave the restaurant.

“The bouncer comes back over, really bad attitude, [and says] ‘We’re going to ask you to either tuck your necklace, remove it or you have to leave,” Bond told WRAL. “I’m not going to tuck my cross in because of my beliefs. I believe in wearing this cross and what it represents.”

The restaurant reportedly has a sign posted outside the entrance that bans patrons from wearing large chains hanging outside their shirts.

"Chain Free Zone"? WT heck? Well, if that's there policy. Suppose the patron had said "But, I'm gay." Would they have let him remain? Absurd. Twitt(er) ceo apologizes for eating at Chick-Fil-A? What's next? People returning "MyPillow" because the inventor/sales person Mike Lindell has a cross prominently on display in the ads?

Why would anyone but a trouble-maker do that?

Deserved to be politely told to GTFO.

Some bars do not permit bling but every place in America must have a mandated exception for the Cross.

If they enforce their policy on chains fairly, and for all guests, regardless of religion, tatoos, smelly odor, then I’m ok with this.

A bouncer in a restaurant? Interesting. I’m thinking the Bar N’ Grill was more of a bar, and less of a grill.

That’s considered OK in today’s society.

Conservative Christians are the new Jews from 1940’s Germany.

Maybe liberals will demand everyone be forced to wear a cross on their lapel- so they can be identified.

Then no one will be allowed o serve them or give them a job.

In my area it’s mostly black men who wear really big chains with crosses. I wonder if this will escalate...

Well if it was the size of a hubcap, yeah. But then, lots of people esp. those in entertainment wear the Cross as jewelry.

I would not see this situation as anti-Christian. There are a lot of groups that have co-opted the cross for their own uses, many not Christian or only vaguely Christian. As long as the policy is evenly enforced, I have no problem with it.

And Christians who are humble will simply tuck in the cross during their meal (it’s not a napkin) and avoid the confrontation. I’ve been a Christian for 40 years and don’t wear any jewelry at all. I don’t feel any less of a Christian for not wearing a cross.
