WASHINGTON — Prince William County Board Chair Corey Stewart, a bombastic supporter of President Donald Trump, has won the Virginia GOP primary in the U.S. Senate race in a narrow victory over Virginia Del. Nick Freitas.

The hard-right firebrand now faces Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, the Democrats’ 2016 vice presidential nominee and former Virginia governor, who is seeking a second term.

Speaking to his supporters gathered Tuesday night in Warrenton, Virginia, Freitas conceded the race and pledged to support Stewart in the general election.

The race between Stewart and Freitas remained close throughout the night as ballots were counted. The unofficial results listed on the Virginia Department of Elections website reported Stewart took 44.78 percent of the vote compared to 43.15 percent for Freitas.

The GOP establishment in Virginia will now work to kill Stewart, like they did with Cuccinelli and Ollie North.

I voted for Corey in the primary but I think Virginia is permanently blue, state-wide. That is, assuming we can’t deport all the illegals, disenfranchise felons, and disenroll the dead.

Yeah, but a loser.
I couldn’t get myself to vote today. Didn’t want either choice.

Oh yeah- I’ll vote for Stewart in the General.

Hint: don’t answer your phone, and throw away every piece of mail you get from the VA GOP. Send your contributions directly to Corey’s campaign. That way he has a chance of at least seeing some of your $$.

I voted for Corey Stewart today and we now have a fighting chance to take down Tim Kaine.
The last two Senate races we were saddled with Bush League Republican leftovers George Allen and Ed Gillespie.

I don’t doubt that the Bush League Republicans will try to sabotage Stewart, but if Trump voters turn out, we can win this.

He might get lucky, but I agree with you. High income NOVA residents are voting blue in higher numbers every election.

This was a close one between the top two and Stewart failed to win a majority given Jackson’s 12 points. The VA GOP has been sucky at bringing the party together for the nominee in state-wide elections. Will it do so this time and get out the vote against the rabid leftist Kaine?

“High income NOVA residents are voting blue in higher numbers every election”

While true, that is not the problem in No Va.

It is the large number of illegal aliens (mostly Hispanic) and non-citizen green card holders (mostly south Asian) who vote in large numbers, illegally.

The democrats and the SEIU have registered them in large numbers. All they need is a drivers license (which green card holders get legally, and illegal aliens get fraudulently.)

The area is run by democrats at all levels, so no one will ever check fraudulent voting in Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria.

The sad thing is that 15 years ago when the flood of illegals started coming, the RINO establishment captives of the Chamber of Commerce would not lift a finger to stop it. They wanted the cheap labor. Now there are over a quarter million of them in NoVa, and the state has gone from bright red to deep blue and is lost forever.

The bigger problem is LEGAL Immigrants who vote legally. One-third of Fairfax County is foreign-born. Combine that with the migration of liberals from the Northeast to NoVA and you now have a solid blue state.

Yes, they will. I still seethe at Cuccinelli’s loss. That one still hurts. Cuch would have made a fantastic governor and North a fantastic senator. But Virginia is blueish now. Stewart is toast. If Trump can’t win Virginia (as you know, it was not even close), Stewart isn’t either.

How? If Trump can’t win in Virginia, how can Stewart? Hillary won by 250,000 votes...it was not close.

Yup. This is all Bush’s fault. For real. All the hiring for Homeland Security and other alphabets post 9/11. By 2006 Virginia was purple then slowly blue. Throw in all the furriners his admin allowed to invade.
