New Jersey already had among the toughest gun laws in the United States when Gov. Phil Murphy took office, but the new Democratic governor didn’t waste any time to crack down even further amid a contentious national debate over gun control.
Murphy is expected on Wednesday to sign a package of bills further tightening the regulation of firearms in the Garden State.
The actions are once again putting New Jersey on the front lines when it comes to gun control, a debate that has taken on a even higher profile following school shootings in Florida and Texas.

The battles were fought for naught since the bad guys...albeit a different group...have apparently won in the long run.
Just another Dem governor needed to build a left wing resume to support a run for President. We had one in Maryland ... O’Malley should have been a lock for the Dem nomination ... young, good looking, ultra liberal, enacted useless gun laws in Md ... how the Dems placed their bet on HRC is beyond me.
And probably the punishment if a criminal is caught with an illegal gun is 6 months at hard probation.

a FREE state, 650 miles away. Get out while you can.
The scions of the Obama hegemony are still at work. The people of New Jersey are fools electing such a blivet, from whom they and the 2nd amendment are soon to be parted.
Meanwhile every crazy wombat and every criminal with just 2 clues to rub together can get a gun in New Jersey which no longer meets the definition of a free state:

But they never say anything about the illegal guns in the inner-cities, why? They are only going after law abiding citizens! No one cares about black on black gun violence, except for crying mamma’s and grand mamma’s in the streets after a death.

So the article and writer applauds a tyrannical government taking away a fundamental right of self defense...and the liberals/progressives are supposed to be the champions of human rights? We do NOT have a gun problem in the USA, we have a lying, agenda driven progressive media problem. For one, “gun violence” is at 1940’s levels and in most cases even lower (3.2 per 100,000) for rigged numbers, but that’s low. First off, 67% of those numbers are suicides and USA still has lower suicide rates than France, Japan and Iceland, all anti-gun countries. Not low enough? Why is self defense lumped in with those numbers?In Europe they don’t own guns so how can that be compared when there’s no self defense via gun? Self defense-—take that out-— Now we’re at about 2 per 100,000, wow, that’s approaching early 1900’s numbers. But wait, there’s more-—the final 15% of so called “gun violence” -—85% of that number is gang violence and drug lords...Guess what, they will kill each other regardless and that’s mostly inner city progressive areas. Take that out and now we’re at .47 out of 100,000——Holy moly, that’s lower thank Europe plus we have 300,000,000 guns in circulation. Proof, more guns equals less innocent people dying. There is no “gun” problem.
You would have to pay me an absolutely obscene amount of money to live in New Jersey.
NJ has been horrible for years. One day I was visiting my uncle and he told me about how he wanted to buy an anniversary edition of the Daisy Red Ryder BB gun and had been waiting over a year for his permit to be approved. This was a man in his 60’s who had never been arrested or even had a traffic ticket and he wasn’t being allowed to buy a child’s toy. My sister was working on a job in Maine so I had her buy him one at Kittery Trading Post. He hung it over the mantel and probably went to his grave without ever shooting it. He is the kind of person the people who make the laws inconvenience. Criminals couldn’t care less.
Correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t this one already been struck down by the courts?
* A2758, which will strictly define that state residents need to show a “justifiable need” to obtain a permit to carry a handgun — meaning they must show they face a specific threat to their own safety.
And even that wouldn’t be enough.
No-—That’s the problem, it’s been upheld in MD by activist Judges.

NJ is a joke. They keep taking away what is not even here. It is layer upon layer of BS anti-Constitutional sewage from cesspool Trenton. I don’t even bother trying to buy a firearm here. I am so close to moving to a free state.
Will the last one to leave New Jersey please shoot out the street lights....
