I'm female and I played with guns as a kid. We played WWII games and cowboys and Indians. (And somehow, even though I played at being male soldiers and cowboys, I always knew I was a girl.)

Before we ever bought toy guns for our first son, he was using sticks for guns and building guns out of legos.
