Dear Jennifer Murphy,

I need to be better informed on the issue of humane and just border security and the protection of children. I have been prayerfully following this Border Crisis issue day by day.

I clearly need a more adequate understanding. Perhaps you could clear up some questions which have been on my mind, and the minds of others as well.

1) Wasn't there a ruling in Federal Court some 20+ years ago (the Flores Settlement) --- and some subsequent rulings ---which held that it is illegal and dangerous to put children in detention with adults?

2) Aren't there a number of safety reasons why vulnerable minors should not be detained with adults?

• Kids have been found not to be the children of the adults they traveled with.

• Some have been unaccompanied minors being fraudulently used by unrelated adults to gain more favorable treatment as a "family".

• Some have been exploited by criminal narcotraficantes as "mules" to transport drugs and other contraband

• Some have been abducted or obtained by force/fraud for illegal adoption or social benefit scams

• Some are being trafficked for labor or sex.

• It's difficult to protect children from gang members (like the Mara Salvatrucha gang and others) in a setting which may mix criminal adults with vulnerable kids.

3) If this is true, then in the light of these realities, shouldn't we give credit to the Federal Court for attempting to safeguard these children from adult exploitation, and guarantee that they are returned safely home to their actual families (and not child traffickers)?

I believe this is why the Bush and Obama Administration ALSO cared for children in separate detention facilities.

4) If this is false, then shouldn't we have condemned the Bush and Obama Administration which ALSO, since at least 1997, have complied with Flores and similar rulings, and kept children and adults separate while in detention?

5) What is the solution? Is the preferred policy "Catch and Release"? How are we ascertaining that these kids are with their actual parents, and that the kids AND their parents are not being exploited by criminals?

Don't we have a moral obligation to keep them out of harm's way?

Did TNCPPC take a stand on child protection and the safe separate detention of minors at any time in the past 20+ years, before now?

Thank you for caring. Please understand my need to get a good, unbiased perspective on these issues.

I respect your conscientious involvement in child protection, border security, and family unity issues.

I'll tell you the BEST way to protect the "children".

DON'T BRING THEM INTO THE U.S.! A lot of these "children" are used merely as props to let the accompanying adult sneak into our country, then used for nefarious purposes.

Could you send a email to the TNCPPC? Even if you're not Catholic, they should hear your thoughtful, reasoned response.

Assume they have probably drunk the liberal Kool-Aid, but assume also that they have seldom or never heard a compassionate and fact-based alternative. That's why they need to hear something intelligent from us.

the left and those that support the left have won on this issue- The president backed down and the world (The low information liberals in the world- and likely some independents) are now convinced this was his policy of traumatization of the children. The right did not get the facts of the case out there loud enough, often enough to stop the nonsense of the left once again- Now it no longer matters what the actual facts are- the left have perpetrated yet another fraud on the world, and sadly the church has joined in just like they have with ‘man-caused’ climate change

The ‘New Truth” (as dictated by the left, as always) is that Trump created policy that has traumatized the children- The Actual truth, that children were treated with respect, and well taken care of, and provided for while their parents went through trials, is no longer true according to liberals who hate this president and everything He stands for.

The left created a crisis out of thin air- created a crisis where none existed- and they have hung that millstone around the necks of the right, and have thrown them into the sea

The right FAILED to get the message out that special rules do NOT apply to foreigners- that if you come into this country breaking our rules, you will face the very same consequences as legal citizens who break the rules- ie your children will be separated from you as you stand trial for your crimes. This is for the safety of the children, and for equal justice for ALL- People pouring into our country illegally are costing this country between $400 BILLION DOLLARS and $600 BILLION DOLLARS every single year- and are murdering raping assaulting and killing our citizens in record numbers, and that we can’t as a nation allow people to simply pour into this country illegally- those who do so WILL be prosecuted just like they are in most other countries around the world

BUT The right has lost that fight- The left have painted the right as monsters- and the west hating world has eaten it up as gospel truth- facts be damned
