An international agreement Mayor Steve Adler and Judge Sarah Eckhardt signed Wednesday is giving renewed hope to people living with HIV and AIDS. Austin is now the second Texas city, after San Antonio, to get on board the Fast Track Cities initiative, which is committing to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030. "Zero new AIDS cases. Zero new HIV infections. Zero HIV related deaths by 2030," explained Dr. Phil Huang, medical director and health authority at the Austin Public Health Department. According to the city, in 2016 there were 4,716 Austin/Travis County residents living with HIV infection. An additional 987 persons are estimated to be infected, but don’t know they have the virus. Dr. Huang added, "We still have about 250 new cases each year in Travis County." Black and Latino men who have sex with men account for 47 percent of the new cases here.

Oh, sure. Local doctors don't recommend the sponge for birth control or anything that might leave viruses inside the vagina for any length of time because Austin has nation high numbers of STDs. If they can't end Gonorrhea, how are they going to end AIDS in a lib city with sooooo many gays?

Quit bopping each other and use clean needles. Good luck with that. How long have STDs been around.

So are they finally going to throw infected people into quarantine as should have been done years ago rather than let the poofters wrap up a disease in the mantel of civil rights and thereby ensure the deaths of many?

... I didn’t think so....

No, no, you just don’t get it. This is AUSTIN. They will force everyone to PROMISE to not get infected, and consider their job complete.

From an author, Michael Fumento

HIV/AIDS gets about $200,000 per patient death in the 2012 NIH research budget, according to calculations from the FAIR Foundation (Fair Allocations in Research).

America spends 21 times more per AIDS death than cancer death. Pancreatic cancer will strike about 43,000 Americans this year and is essentially a quick death sentence. It gets 1% of the funding per death as AIDS.

Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s are the nation’s sixth and 14th-leading causes of death of death respectively, yet HIV/AIDS gets 34 times and 25 times more per fatality respectively.

Remember also that AIDS is nearly 100% preventable in its victims, while these other diseases are not.

AIDS is a group of diseases....in the past, they marked people with "AIDS" as those with 3 certain diseases that came from a complied list...

the problem is HIV and all the other viruses that people pass, and that anal sex makes even easier...

It still frustrates me, so many years later, that the homosexual AIDS activists blamed Reagan for the AIDS epidemic.

They say that Reagan didn’t do enough to fight AIDS.

Rather than cast any blame on members of their own community, whose voluntary reckless behavior spread HIV and AIDS, instead they blamed Reagan for not devoting enough healthcare research resources towards fighting their ailments.

So they are going to stop the F*ggots from F***ing? Finally some common sense out of Austin. (Yes, i'm being sarcastic. They aren't going to do anything useful.)

Quarantine homosexuals?

IIRC, Ronald Reagan suggested that a long time ago.

men who have sex with men account for 47 percent of the new cases here.

I'd bet the real number is a lot higher than that and also bet the liberals are too stupid to see the connection.

They’re finally going to round up the queers and isolate them?

Should have been done 40 years ago.

I am unaware of any current "Aids Epidemic". Apparently, I must've missed the last thirty years of progress on the Aids front. Is the Aids Epidemic anything like the Zika or Ebola Epidemic?

Getting the queers to stop buggering one another and the junkies to quit needle-sharing would go a long way towards that end.

There is no “AIDS epidemic.” There are some bungholers with the disease, but the non-perv population is largely exempt.
